Noooooo, don't dismantle. I like it.
hmmm...can't make up my mind if i should keep this as is or use the movement and build something round it!

How much?
what i was wondering was if it was worth buying one of those diver kits and having it built around this, as it's a cosc standard movement. i sort of like it, but i doubt i'll ever wear it. it's in excellent nick apart from a chunk out of the crystal edge at 8. of course, as the inveterate flipper that i am, i might trade!

What, an ETA "sub" case kit? I've got the parts lined up to build an LV homage (raffles_time case, 2824, sterile sub dial and Mercedes hands), but I'm still waiting for the green bezel to arrive.
If you want to build one, it might be better to look for a rough donor with an ETA 2836, as most cases are designed for that movement. That Bucherer is far too nice to break.
Wrong forum mate
I'm not as think as you drunk I am.
That looks like a really nice watch, don't butcher it!
How big is it?
i didn't start the thread as a free advert honest! :D i bought it thinking i'd get a cosc watch for reasonable dosh but in the metal it's just a bit too life on mars for my tastes. my thoughts had turned to getting a nice divers case and knowing it had a good quality movement would be great- but it's looking like most think that would be a great shame. tbh, i was expecting everyone to hate it! :albino:Originally Posted by mr1973

it's about 35mm excluding the crown, but due to the oval styling it's also pretty long, not got a ruler to hand but i'd guess at 42mm including the lugs.Originally Posted by dejjl

The title says it all but it'd be a shame to break it for spares imho.

+1 !! the series is on it's second time around on PBS ("commercial free") TV here in the USA. Most nostalgic :cry:Originally Posted by Captain Chaos
It looks mint, would be a shame to break it, there are plenty of more battered vintage watches around that would be better candidates.
The question is...
Did Gene have the Capri painted to match the watch, or vice versa?
it's in very good nick, the case and dial are excellent, the crystal has a chip at 8. :| it's also on a Bucherer leather strap but tbh i'm not sure this is original.the sellers pics here: they show the crystal and the strap better than mine.Originally Posted by dutchgray

That's not bling - it's a small, what looks like very nicely made, dress watch from a particular era. A gold finish is entirely in keeping. It would be strange to break it up.Originally Posted by ktmog6uk

You have to be 'of a certain age' to really appreciate Life on Mars. I am, and remember the decade well. The Mk.3 Cortina was quite a motor...
Oh, and don't break up that Bucherer - it's way too good as it is. One day the 70s will be stylish and everyone will want one. :)
i think i'm going to trade it. i just can't get on with the looks. am shame as i'd love something with this standard of movement in!
