Not sure it's beautiful, but it's certainly striking.
A favourite from when I was young - A Bugatti type 35
3 pics, same beautiful sports car.
Just sold for 3 million yankee dollars.Originally Posted by boddah

Yes, 11 convertibles were made but only 2 were based on the FV2B ... other 9 were based on different FV models but they all look similar. Stirling Moss bought a Facel Vega HK500 in 1959 and preferred it for travelling between events in preference to aircraft http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQrwbzDTvSQ ... roadholding and handling was an acquired taste.Originally Posted by ralphy

Ferrari 250GTO is nice:
but the real favourite is the Miura:
Rather like this as well (but might be biased!):
The Miura is beautiful but my vote would be for the the MB 300SL Gullwing.
I've never seen anything that makes me clench up and hurt as much as the SV Miura. Just the best.
Tell you what though....
:bounce:
OMG I hope they build that  , very rare for a modern car to look properly nice they usually look to fat and heavy but that looks fantastic.

I have always LOVED the 928... it outperformed the 911, it outhandled the 911 and unlike 911 it was an comfortable touring car.
I think it's amazing that this came out originally in 1978. It looks brand new even today (these examples are newer 90's models though).
The looks? Well... pure perfection.
e type works for me

Aside from text sources and insider statements, the raw performance numbers further back these claims; the 928 was capable of easily out-accelerating every version of the 911 sold during its lifetime except the 964 generation 911 Turbo, a car difficult to extract the most from in track situations. In addition, the 928's predictable handling, aided by its superior 50/50 weight distribution, made it a competent on-track match for the 911 in nearly any real-world situation.
911 Turbo had faster 0-60 specs, but not the top speed.

928 is very under appreciated car. The 1990's GT model was able to outperform Ferrari Testarossa, in both acceleration and race conditions.
Check this.
GTS was the top of the model series. That's the one I want. Unfortunately the good ones with low mileage and service history go for north of €25.000 in Germany.
One doesn't have to be merely a Bond/Connery fan to appreciate this car:

968... thumbs up. I heard it's an amazing car to drive.Originally Posted by K300

Some nice cars on here...but nothing on gods earth will ever match the beauty of the Alfa 8c
Just sitting in one made me feel all tingly
BMW Z8 comes a close second in my opinion
no argument from me :wink:968... thumbs up. I heard it's an amazing car to drive.
Or me

I'm buying a Porsche too... and I was torn between 928 S4 and 968. Both are fantastic performance cars... and have their strong points... 968 might be lighter and funnier to drive but then again it doesn't have 320 hp + the raw V8 exhaust sound. ;)

Back in the 1980s I had a 75 911 2.7s and my (then) girlfriend's dad had a manual 928 S2 (horrible dog-leg first IIRC)Originally Posted by JPE

Well
I'll have to be honest with myself, i said that the E-type was the most beautiful but i'll never own one, or a Ferarri or TVR or any supercar...
This is my little bit of sportscar happiness (if i ever finish it )
I have to get it roadworthy and painted for the middle of June next year to go to the Midget50 GTG at Burghley house :D
There's still a fair bit of bodywork (mostly cosmetic- the structural parts are amazingly solid!) to do, i've been off work for nearly three months due to an injury and haven't been fit enough to get much done :(
hopefully some nice weather now that i'm getting much better :D
John :)
I love the 911. It's a legend... you can't deny that... it's a classic model... but unfortunately it's too mundane. It's like Rolex Submariner. A watch that EVERY Bubba and Luke wants to own.Originally Posted by stiglet

Seriously though... the vintages like yours are a bit different. They have "spirit". I wouldn't mind having one, either. ;)
...Small p*nis.........I've had a red Ferrari for goodness sake :D
Have to agree about the Sub comparison though. A 911 is not the best looking sports car-That's a Lola/Chevron /E-type/ Fezza 246/P3/P4/ DB9 etc
A '73 RS is a bit like a Double Red 'dweller. Not the best watch but nice thing to have.....

I could probably afford an old 348. But I couldn't afford the maintenance.
I love sports cars but not THAT much. Kids need money, wifey needs money and you gotta eat too. Ferrari is good for someone who doesn't have to work for a living.
Old 968's, 928's and even 911 are actually very trouble free cars, despite what the general public thinks of them. I would say Porsche quality is higher than BMW, Audi and Mercedes, or at least on par with them.
That said, the new Boxter does absolutely NOTHING for me. I would rather drive an old 944.
I had this 348 for 4 years.
A very under-rated model IMHO - A stonkingly good car and nothing went wrong with it. One cam belt service which was just over a grand
Much more reliable than early 355s (which eat valves and manifolds by all accounts) and not that much slower in the real world. I only sold mine to fund an old 911 which I will race :D
If you can afford a 348 -I'd buy one - PM me for more advice if you wish
My wife and children starve BTW
Cheers - JP
Not the most beautiful ever, but I almost got a pristine one a couple years ago.
DeTomaso Pantera GTS 1975 (the last year they imported them to the US).
