Forgive my Seiko ignorance but the 200m one is stunning. Is it the most expensive?
I just want to know how hard I need to save for it.
I quite like it  Outwardly it appears a lot simpler, but the devil is in the detail. :)Originally Posted by captainhowdy

Very impressive, I really miss the Seiko Direct Drive Marine Master I used to own.
Unfortunately yes, the 200m GS Diver is the most expensive. You can try the likes of Seiya for pricing. It ain't cheap but is worth it. IMO at least.Originally Posted by GuyIncognito
Absolutely stunning trio. The GS200 is wonderful. I must say though, the MM300 stands up very well in that company. I would be over the moon with any one of those. Congratulations.

It's well known I'm a huge fan of the 600, but that 200 is terribly sexy!
Jay is the 200 lume similar 'blue' as per the 600?
Steve
 :D
The lume on the GS is obviously fantastic. Fairly similar to the 600 but not quite as blue, but probably brighter.
Unfortunately Seiya is not well at the moment and his site is not taking orders. He has been admitted to hospital but tweeted that he did manage to get out for a meal yesterday http://twitter.com/seiyajapan.
I am sure many members here wish him a speedy recovery.
 AYYEEEEEEEEE F****** AWESOME 8) congrats Jay!
Jay, did you get the 200 from the Seiko shop in Causeway Bay?
O.............O my O! A little surplus to learn that so many are interested in this unconventional design.
You should get 6105 + 1000 tuna auto to complete the ultimate Seiko diver collection.
There was a time I nearly got a GS 200 but as I already have the 600, I saw no point for comparing both. To me the 600 has all the features that I would look for a daily beater..bold, chunky, SD movement, 24 hours hand, 600M, ti case and not to mention it is a DIVER watch.
For those not having a 300 now, the sexy thing about it is the one-piece case back.
Please do some profile comparison when you have time.
What a great pair. It will be good to see how their rate will change over time. Mine's overall variation is less than a minute a year. It's actually less than 30 seconds but I am not going fight over it.Originally Posted by Jay
One question: Does the ‘polished ceramic bezel’ of the 200 “BLING” too much?
I am asking this because I’ve seen complains from Rolex Sub ‘polished ceramic bezel’ owners that it shines too much and attracts the wrong kind of attention.

Costume jewellery. Ouch!!!
Three great looking watches all with their own character.
I like them all with the strap/bracelet options you have at present. The 600m SD always looks best on its bracelet and IMO looks slightly odd on a strap due to the hexagonal plates.
Enjoy wearing them.
EPIC :rr:
I got mine from Higuchi, he's worth trying if Seiya is not working at the moment. The Yen is very strong at the moment though and if I remember right there was a lot of vat/duty to pay.Originally Posted by Jay
Isn't there a Grand Seiko shop in Paris?

I managed to see them there but didn't buy mine from them.Originally Posted by MrBanks

Timing wise both are still spot on after 2 days. Will see how long i can be bothered to keep checking
As for the ceramic bezel on the 200. Yes it is Bling, is it too much, nah. It adds to the character of the watch and doesn't detract from the toolishness at all. As the rest of the watch is not overly bling, and the fact that it says Seiko on the dial  , means it doesn't attract the wrong kind of attention. :D
I've never really been into the 6105 particularly and the same with the Tunas. So not sure if i'll go down that route.Originally Posted by seikomatic
BUT, i do love the 6159 and if i could find one of those i think that would complete my ultimate Seiko Divers.
Here's a couple of profile shots i took yesterday but didn't post. I'll do a full write up and photo report and review alongside both the 300 and 600 when i have a bit of time.
Thanks :) Watch this space as there will be pics with the 600 on a lot of different strap options soon enough, before deciding the bracelet probably is the best :lol:Originally Posted by j111dja
Jay, is the 600 about the same in depth as the DSSD? Looks chunky.
Which I like.

Would be good to get a side by side as i think they'd be a good comparison. Maybe at one of the next GTG i can get some photos.
Stunning selection of Seiko's there!
Love the GS, it really is a very classy looking watch.
Looks like there'll be at least 2 DSSD there at the Sussex one :)Originally Posted by Jay

Sorry Jay, very rude of me! Thanks for the links - I pretty much have to accept I'll bebuying one of these now, just need to try to delay the inevitable as long as possible...
Don't be ridiculous, i'm just messing with you :) Anyway, this pic's for you :P Why delay :bom:Originally Posted by cmcm3

Yup, I keep checking on this thread for the updates. Jay, I love the pics. Can keep looking at your watches all the time. ;)
Cheers, Dave.
Yes, but it's not a Marine Master. That's for just hanging out on the yacht and falling in the water occasionally. :P :P :POriginally Posted by seikomatic

Kinda more symmetric. In fact the GS looks BIGGER than 600Originally Posted by abraxas
Yes, the dial is much bigger. Sometimes I feel it might appear "too big" on the wrist.Originally Posted by seikomatic
Any chance of dial measurements of the 3 watches please Jay?
john
------------------------------
PS Some more measurements against other popular quality Seiko divers (that I stole from my review):
SBDX001: 300M Diver Automatic is 44mm wide and 14.6mm tall.
SBDB001: 600M Diver Spring Drive is 46mm wide and 17mm tall.
SBGA031: Grand Seiko Springdrive Diver is 44.2mm wide and 14.2mm tall.
SBDD003: SEIKO Prospex 200M Kinetic Direct Drive is 46mm wide and 15.1mm tall.
SBDB003: SEIKO Landmaster Springdrive 45mm wide and 15.5mm tall.
Costume jewellery. Ouch!!!
Sure, will measure them later. But when i put the watches face to face a couple of days ago the outer bezel diameter seemed exactly the same, although bear in mind the ceramic bezel is one piece whereas the 600 has an insert within the bezel. The dial certainly appears larger on the GS Diver.Originally Posted by abraxas
The dial doesn't feel too big on the wrist for me, even with my relatively small wrist.
 I must try that... one day :P :DOriginally Posted by abraxas
Thanks for the kind words. No more photos this eve, hopefully tomorrow :wink:Originally Posted by sharkfin

This below has most definately got me wondering about long term spring drive ownership … all that quality control hassle to get the watches to the market and then not looking after them to the same level, once they are out of the door?
Has anyone ever had their spring drive watch overhauled?

I think PeterM sent his Spring Drive GMT to Japan for some TLC, maybe he could tell us about that experience :?
Mine was sent under warranty - if you recall Royal Mail managed to cause it to stop but after a few days it righted itself. Nevertheless being the anal retentive I am, I sent it back to Japan to be checked over.
It was gone for less than 6 weeks (which I thought was impressive) and it was simply stripped and cleaned with no work being required.
Once it had recovered from the Royal Mail it has not missed a beat, both before and after it came back from Seiko. I can honestly say the watch looks completely unmolested and more to the point it remains perfectly accurate - it has not missed a second
I am so happy with this watch and I remain a huge fan of Spring Drive... in fact there will be more to follow
Having seen how popular Jay's thread is, it has made me plan to get some more snaps of the GMT this weekend.
As for the MM600m GMT, it's a stunningly well made hunk of titanium - well done Jay.
Nice pics Peter :) Damn i want the GMT :D
