That is outrageous!
Freakin unreal, I think I'd just leave leave the keys in the ignition and right off the loss. As far as the booming economy comment in comparison to America, they'd be failing in my book.

Christ, I thought it was about the M8 at 1600 on a Friday, that's a forty odd mile queue of stationary traffic

Jim.
Yay! A week off from work, eating, smoking and playing cards! :D
In Finland we have epic "traffic" at the Russian border.. it's not really a jam, just the Russian authorities not processing incoming traffic fast enough through the border. A couple of years ago the queue was 100 kilometers long..
I'm not as think as you drunk I am.
Poor sods :|
"I looked with pity not untinged with scorn upon these trivial-minded passers-by"
Crazy, i'll try and remind myself of this next time i'm sat on the M25 for hours on end.
Try getting over the George Washington bridge on a summer weekend night. You'll want to actually kill someone, even if you are the nicest of people. In the city's infinite wisdom, they close one level of the bridge to anyone without an easypass (the thingy on your windshield). This forces 75% of the people to the other level. There is an accident on either level pretty much 50% of the time so... voila!... 3-6 hour backups almost all the time. Last time we did this, there was an accident on BOTH levels and the temperature outside was 101 degrees... at 10:30 at night.
You will see cars overheating, people trying to jump medians in their cars and runing the underside, fights, mayhem etc. It's quite scary if you have young children in the car. :x
sounds like a typical monday-sunday morning congestion!
