Hello,
I have a proposal to trade those watches:vintage Rolex gmt, vintage Rolex
Sub ref 1680,and vintage Yellow gold Rolex Daydate (all those watches have no bracelet and are in medium condition) for a very good condition vintage (1978) Seadweller. What do you think of that trade?
Thank you for your advices.

Don't do it. 'Condition' can be improved.
You would be trading 1 travel (GMT), 1 dress (gold day/date), and 1 sport (sub), all for 1 sport (SD). So you would be going from having the appropriate Rolex for any occasion to pretending that a Sea Dweller goes with a dinner suit. Madness! Given that I was keen on Rolex, I wouldn't even consider it.
Best wishes,
Bob
RAF simple answer is no as stated above spend a few bob on your vintage watches and you will have evrything you need.
Paul. :)
At first glance it does not look like a good trade in purely monetary terms: I'd say no way!
Even if the trade was GMT + Sub for Sea Dweller I'd probably still say no - especially if yours are nicely patinated and original watches. Bracelets for all 3 will hit the pocket hard (esp the gold one), but servicing will be reasonable - that's if service is required at all.
Ask him if he has a double red instead

It is not a good deal at all. Probably the GMT and the Sub for the SD but not all three. If the SD was a very recent one (say 1-2 years old) ... perhaps.

Costume jewellery. Ouch!!!
I think we're not sure whether RAF is in possession of the three Roleces, or of the single SD.

Assuming RAF has the 3 rather than the SD:
Older SD's - even bog standard post-1974 white SD's - are fetching a lot more than recent or NIB Dwellers. So the deal would be even less attractive if the SD was new-ish.
Keep your 3 and gradually get them sorted out and wearable. The Sub would go well on a NATO for now (£10) and the gold day-date would be good on a croc or lizard for not a lot of money.
On the other hand if someone is going to give you those 3 for your SD:
Might be a good deal but all depends on the condition.
De-Blaired at last!!
:D
Not a fair trade in my opinion. I don't think it would be too difficult to get a NEW SD for those 3.

Whole chunks of my life come under the heading "it seemed like a good idea at the time".
Hello,
Well,I wont do the deal, even those early Seadwellers are very cool imo and quite rare too.

I read it to mean he wasn't sure which side of the trade you were on! :DOriginally Posted by RAF

Hi RAF,
two of your watches are quite enough in the trade, please post the reference numbers of your GMT and Day Date.
By the way those early Sea Dwellers are going into space soon $$$$!!!!

Indeed, that wa sthe case.Originally Posted by Jim M
Sorry about the misunderstanding, RAFm, but if you read your original post, and the responses, you'll see that which side of the deal your were supposed to be on was indeed anbiguous. No offence intended at all. I was just trying to clear up things. :)
