Black for me.
Guys I need your help.
I am going to go for a tudor Heritage Chrono but because there are no UK dealers I have to order unseen.
Just going on pictures I am finding it really hard to decide especially with this amount of cash.
So over to you
Grey face or Black face
Black for me.
When you look long into an abyss, the abyss looks long into you.........
personally lusting after the grey....and secondhand so when you get bored....
They're both nice, but I actually like the grey one better.
regards,
Nick
Grey for me...
Both look fantastic but the grey dial would be my personal preference.
Cheers,
Gary
Grey for me as well
Grey!!!
I find myself having urges for the Grey faced one on a regular basis just now.
It's definitely got a real chance of being the next watch I buy, especially if I've had a wee glass of wine or two and one pops up on the SC... :drunken:
I have a grey and bought it new after only seeing photos of it. The dial definitely doesn't disappoint in the metal.
After buying it, I saw a black dial at a dealer in Austria and it did nothing for me; so I was doubly glad I went the route I did. :)
conversely, I've seen both and preferred (and bought) the black dial....! Love it, I feared I would bore of the grey dial ultimately although it has real presence too.
I like the gray! Umm, I mean grey... :blackeye:
No doubt - the grey with black subdials - has a great vintage look - one of the nicest new - vintage inspired watches
br
black cos its the one i got :)
heres a wrist shot from my good mate mr andyg who picked her up for me on his travels
he took the pics before he got them up to me , im sure he doesnt mind me showing off his wrist :)
Black. But are you really going to go with the "decision" of the majority on a forum?
I'd go for grey.
Definitely black IMO
Easy question... the grey, the one most closely resembling what the watch is RE-issued to look like
But truly both, are lovely pieces, though I've read the movements are the downside of these gems, or choice by Tudor in the movements etc for the money.
Good luck, I plan to get one once the hype has subsided some.
Against the grain it would seem but I prefer the black dial.
I too would be waiting a while before buying though.
Andy
Wanted - Damasko DC57
The only one I have handled is a black faced / grey subdial model - and that would be my choice. There was just something about the depth of the black that made it very compelling.
Like many here I am waiting to see how low prices will go secondhand.
Both are very nice but I like the grey more, Its more unusual
Isn't that how it works with all those "this or that" threads? You buy the democractically elected choice, and then the people who told you what to buy all send you a proportion of the cost of the watch. At least, that's how it should work, since the only reason anyone would buy a watch that a stranger told them to was if they were given the money for it, no?Originally Posted by Tai Mi Shu
Personally I'd go for the black & grey dial.
...but what do I know; I don't even like watches!
Would anyone really take the advice of a load of faceless forum members on the colour of their dial in reality?
I know I wouldn't.
Grey.
Cheers,
Neil.

Honestly I don't know, its doing my head in :) for me this is a large amount of cash to risk in picking the wrong one :) Although I think with this watch it is win win to be honest.Originally Posted by Tai Mi Shu

the main problem is not actualy seeing them in the flesh, it just gives me doubts. I'm sure we have all seen pictures of watches and then not liked them in the flesh.
Thanks for all your help guys.
To be honest I think they're both great and whichever one you choose will be a winner. The problem is when you put two of anything (or more to confuse matters) side by side and then have to pick.
Good luck with your decision but its a great one to have to make
I bought mine (a Black dial) without ever having handled or even seen one. When it arrived the first thing I thought is that it looks so much better in the flesh than it does on the photos. The second thing I thought was that I was glad I hadn't gone for the grey dial. The sub dials on mine, which I presume are the same colour as the grey dialled version are a sort of matt battleship grey colour, which I'm not sure I'd like as the main colour on the watch.Originally Posted by 11oss
It's also quite a tall watch, which is something you don't really pick up on the photos. You really notice this on the non crown side of the case. The Oyster look alike bracelet at 22mm is quite a lot wider than the standard Oyster, and is very comfy. If Rolex had put one of these on a DSSD it would have looked the dog's whatsits, but I digress. If you like the look of the thing in the photos, I'm pretty sure that you won't be disappointed.
I voted for grey.
I think it looks great and I am not sure about the contrast between the black face and sub-dials
I hope you enjoy whichever you go for and some pics/thoughts would be great.
out of interest, where are you going to source it from?
I think these are great looking watches in both colour schemes, but grey is edging it for me.

is a ncie thing . finish is nice , bracelet and clasp superb . all in all a nice reissue .
imho it has lvied up to the hype when it was released, may not be for your brand freaks but
for those who like old school but modern practicality its a no lose :)
good luck with yer choice , cant go wrong either way .
Well I'm hoping so, yes.Originally Posted by andrew

Should only run to a quid each. If you need to arrange the collection "in secret" you can do so in the Boy's Room. I don't look in there.
Thank you all in advance.
Defo grey for me
I've ordered a black one through my AD. I hummed and hawed for ages too put opted for black in the end. I just find the grey a bit "bland" to have the whole face in that colour
Grey - there are plenty of other black watches out there!
That's pretty much my train of thought. But I doubt either would be a disappoint judging by the photos, and the black dial does have enough originality to it to set it apart from any other black dials around.Originally Posted by pseunomis

I looked at my watch box recently and all bar 2 of my watches have black dials. The Tudor grey made a nice addition to a sea of black. As someone also mention earlier in the thread, the grey also mirrored the vintage model, which was nice.
I went with 'Black face grey sub dials' as I find it the most striking, but it's your watch so you go with what appeals to you. :)
Both are lovely regardless of colouring.
Thanks for the input guys.
I made my mind up with Grey face went in to place an order but rolex/Tudor UK have had all week off with the snow! Not taking calls acording to the AD.
Somebody asked where I was sourcing this watch from.
This watch because my 40th is coming up my parents have donated towards it with all their tesco vouchers hence the need to source from Goldsmiths. According to my local goldsmiths it is not a problem for them to get one in they have had quite a lot of enquireies about them.
Cheers
Well done and good decision.
They both look better in the flesh than in pics.
Having had both its hard to choose but the grey dial just has that bit more class and its probably because of what others have said...there are LOTS of black dial watches but not many good looking greys...well not as good as this.
Grey dial has perfect overall colouring and tones for me but if someone was giving me a black dial free i'd still have a huge :)
Grey for me. I feel more vintage aspect in this colour.
