 Blatant !! how to fek your whole reputation !
Now we all know that fake watches are widely available, but I was a little surprised to find a car dealer openly selling them in a decent car magazine. These scans are from the April '09 edition of "Classic Cars" and I've chopped the advert to hide the dealer's identity. I doubt I'll be buying a car from this particular establishment....."oh yes sir, all our cars are serviced using genuine manufacturers' parts"
 Blatant !! how to fek your whole reputation !
Replicas of those vary in cost from ~$75 to ~$350. Better off buying off the net where you can get better pics and a spec.
better off not buying this shite at all ! :?
+1 total POS. :evil:Originally Posted by Chartman69

Judging by the watches for sale, it could have a Rover V8 in it :DOriginally Posted by SignalGreen
It was more not wanting to show where the watches are for sale rather than protecting the dealer.Originally Posted by paulpsz008

Perhaps he misguidedly thinks that as it's OK to sell replica classic cars (as is routinely done in these mags) then it's ok with watches!
Surprised the magazine didn't pick it up either.
Yeah that can't be legal, not with the actual name on them.
Yes, I'm sure all the honest reputable fake watch sites send what they advertise...Originally Posted by monogroover

Dodgy car dealer selling hooky watches
“Don’t look back, you’re not heading that way.”
The honest ones do, yes. I can attest to that. There are a large number of scammer replica sites, but these can be avoided with a bit of research and homework.Originally Posted by rsykes2000

It's my new mantra, Neil. Fortunately, there's only a couple on here and so it's easy to no longer feed them - as per Eddie's request. :wink:Originally Posted by Neil.C

trolls are to genuine posters what these fakes are to genuine watches. best avoided entirely.
i do rather wish our host would ban him.
I think your opinion holds true in the case that the seller has a reason to suppose that the buyer isn't aware that it's a replica, otherwise I can't agree at all.Originally Posted by Griswold
This is a facile comment. I don't start threads about replica watches. I don't think they're horologically very interesting frankly, so it's odd to see threads started about them in my view, quite honestly. I certainly feel entitled to chime in with a sincere opinion when others have done so though, so it's clear to me that you're employing the term "troll" in the time-honoured sense "someone whose opinion I dislike".Originally Posted by ralphy
Despite the frequency of its use in that sense, that's not actually what it means.

Quite frankly I'd rather wear a Klaus Kobec to every TZ GTG, than wear a FAKE in my own home.
Every one of them is a POS.
If you want to keep discussing the merits (as you see it) of these rip offs, I suggest you look for a new forum.
Be fair, there are, apparently, people who actually like Breitlings. And they're not all used car salesmen. :mrgreen:Originally Posted by Chartman69

Selling fake watches is illegal simple as that - I have no time for them!
It's just a matter of time...
Genuine Breitlings are horrible blingy over fussy faced things, so why on earth anybody would want to buy/own a replica of such a poorly
designed watch is beyond me.
Basically the vast majority of Brietlings are very poor for clearly showing what the time is IMHO.
I certainly couldn't trust a car dealer selling hooky watches. Fakes are not legal and for me it's a bad sign of their integrity.
I think that some Breitlings are horrible blingy but by no means all. For instance the Headwind that Murph has on SC looks great. You could say the same applies to Rolex. Some of their gents offerings, in gold and with diamonds to my eyes are garish. But others such as the Submariner are understated class.Originally Posted by nesima

I completely understand the attitude towards replicas / fakes / whatever you want to call them and the dealers who sell them but the quality of some is excellent. I don't own any (apart from a TAG I bought in Tenerife for about a tenner in the early 90s and must still have in a drawer somewhere :D ) but I've seen and held a fair few and many now come with ETA movements, etc.
What I do absolutely detest is those individuals who knowingly pass these off as genuine watches to make a fast dishonest buck. This is quite different to the dealers of replicas / fakes who sell exactly what they advertise.

That seems fairly inexpensive, even for 21 months ago. They are rare here in the states and tend to go for a lot more than that.
Some are estate agents. :lol:Originally Posted by RobinMasters
Also, on the subject of replicas, I too find it hard to understand that there is a similar set of people banging on about replicas on special forums for replica watches. Weirdos
Very silly way to make a few hundred pounds. Especially given the readership of Classic Car magazines find originality and 'word' count for a lot a lot like Vintage watches I suppose. Definitely don't think someone wanting a fake Bentley for Breitling from the Phillipines is really going to be looking to spend tens of thousands of pounds on a rarified car either.
I'm certain as recently as a few months ago that was on their advert in that magazine
the SM is also still for sale too from memory
