It's funny, I wasn't actually surprised when I saw it. If he'd been wearing - say - an Omega, or a Damasko, or a Citizen, then I would have been surprised. And I speak as someone who owns at least one of all three of those. Odd, that.

I would never in a million years have considered him a panerai man!
I suppose you just have to take morrissey for what he is. He likes to shock and, as with all celebs who like to shock, he's got himself a self-appointed cause. Nothing new there.
And like all the celebrity do-gooders out there, he still manages to cover himself with luxury goods in a world where cute puppy dogs are eaten in poor countries and children starve. Thats the nature of the game - we live in a world where spiritual leaders wear more bling than drug dealers and billionaire actors and recording artists visit famine victims while wearing watches that would feed the entire region for a year!
But who are we to judge them? Its morrisseys money and thats a nice watch!!

Indeed, whenever I've seen Morrissey perform on TV, I always imagine he'll stop singing half way through a number and tell the audience a Manning gag ("...they've got beautiful smiles though, haven't they? Like full beam..."). The few Morrissey fans left presumably enjoy the same pariah status Manning's fans did. Unembarrassed to the last.
