    Impulse buy - IWC content

Finished work early to drop by my local AD to collect something special that I'd ordered. Half an hour later I walked out with one of these too
I'd never given the new Aquatimer a second glance, but while I was in there this caught my eye and I had a quick look. What a beauty - how have these been under my radar for so long?! It's only been in my possession for an hour but I just nipped outside to take a couple of quick pics in the fading light. Initial impressions are very good - quality seems right up there and the lume is amazing 8) Got to either hide it now, or explain to my girlfriend that the new house fund is now down by a few grand - she'll be home shortly.....

Tell her its an 'homage'! :D

I've got away with loads of stuff just by downplaying its status.

If it doesn't have a Rolex badge on it, she's not too concerned!

Love them, I tried the bracelet version on at the weekend. Nice clean simple dial, bracelet is so comfortable and with the Cartier strap changing system easy peasy to change to a rubber strap as well.

My Ebel's gone off for sale so that I can hopefully get one of these beauties.

Congratulations! I almost bought one last Friday, but my AD wouldn't give enough discount (In my opinion), so I had to pass. It's a beauty and a beast in the same package.

I would suggest hiding it. May as well start as you intend to go on :)

Would that be Charles Fox. The AD not your girlfriend?

I look in their window at least twice a month when in Bournemouth.

dougjb - leading the way in impulse buys :)

Looks good in those photos though I must say. It's one I've seen in a few pics and thought 'meh' but your pics seem to capture some of the quality of the piece. As has been asked, what was the other purchase?

The quick release system is awesome :) If only it was that easy on my other watches! Didn't know it had the system until I got it home and examined it properly!

Charles Fox indeed :) They're about to give up IWC though - apparently there just isn't the demand round here :( Graham on the other hand, which they took on recently is apparently doing very nicely

Great watch you have there ... definitely one I'd put on my list ...

You've got quite a taste for IWCs ... must be a shame to lose your local AD?

What are the other models from their range you like the look of?
    - I've got an Portuguese on the way which I'm looking forward to (!)

I do seem to have a taste for them right now :) Yes I'm sad to be losing my local AD, but I guess they're a business and have to stock what will sell. They used to stock Audemars too but dropped them as they didn't sell and the same also with JLC  I was talking to one of the guys in there today and he said that customers just want bling - they want people to know what's on their wrist. He also said that out of their database of about 7000 people, I'm one of about 12 who actually have a genuine interest and passion. So it seems we WIS really are in the extreme minority - not even on the radar in fact.

I tried a White dial Portuguese today and also the black - absolutely gorgeous, you'll love yours when it arrives 8)

Not usually a huge fan of bright colours on watches like orange monsters or pepsi's but I adore this watch.

Hope you enjoy it as much as I like looking at it! :D

Beautiful piece! Congrats. I had the chrono version on at a GTG once and loved it. Too bad about the AD, but like you say, they gotta do what they gotta do.

I'm wearing the same watch on a bracelet right now, and I'm a fan. (I bought it to sell, but the SC is like the grave at the moment, so I'll hang onto it until the summer, when I'm back in the UK. Not a chore.)

You're right about the lume - the 'night-time signature' is very big - the lume on the bezel makes the watch feel huge in the dark! (I wish I felt huge in the dark. :( ) Lovely quality - well done on your new purchase.

(Can I be cheeky and ask you to PM me and give me rough idea of how much you paid? Really interested. Thanks!)

Whilst you were shopping for watches you should have bought some trousers too ;)
Lovely watch, I had an IWC impulse buy the other night too. Then the seller changed his mind in the morning :(

Congratulations! The new ATs are really extremely well made, and I particularly like the lume under the sapphire bezel insert!

    Mine says Hi! :D

The adaptors and velcro strap are a nice alternative for those (like me) who can't afford the bracelet (at the moment). OK, it's a bit "narrow", almost 19mm for 20mm lug witdh (IWC says this is within their tolerance) but I like it anyway...

    Enjoy!

Hi Doug and congrats on a great watch.

I got the old version of the AT and the new blue chrono which I love to death. As you say, the lume is pure class.

Big watches really are your thing :thumbleft:

Would dearly love to see the latest tobacco dial BP too :D

    Nice watch 8)
It's a shame Chas Fox doesnt get enough demand to keep IWC. It's alsways the first make I drool over when looking in there window.
