    A mod for Vostoks

After a long and twisted history of trying to mod seiko's, some with success and some.. well those serve as spare parts. Latest was a project to make a no crown guard sub:

Then I came across a guy with a machine shop making replacement bezels for vostok divers that allow you to use seiko sized diver inserts on vostoks.

    and the original

I really like it and a simple mod, gives the russian watch a vintage diver look I think. Of course the bezel cost almost as much as the watch, but that makes sense in the watch world.

Nice mod, that. I prefer some of the other dial options, but that bezel does work.

I think the mod looks good on that watch

TBH I quite like the original bezels on Vostoks. Yours looks good but it looks a bit like a Seiko with a Vostok dial IMO.

    nice mod!

these watches don't have the following on this forum as they do on others, but they're fun watches none the less. Sometimes you just want to mess around with something without fear of screwing up a high value watch. I've done a few myself, bought a couple others, given a couple away to friends:

@ jtbold - good thread - not seen many custom jobs on those Amphibia's!

@ clayman - incredible examples, very impressive.

edit - jtbold, are you using one of the CNC machined bezels from Murphy Manufacturing?

    What bracelet is this?

I have a Vostok Century Time coming and I've not heard good things about the bracelet.

  SACRILEGE!! HERETIC!!!  That's almost as bad as putting a Vostok on a NATO strap

...just pulling your leg, what matters is that you like it :thumbleft:

yes the bezel is from Murphy Manufacturing... I stuck a regular seiko insert in as it was all I had... after seeing the pictures here I may have to get another vostok and bezel to make another.

that's a vintage swiss NSA mfr bracelet, I bought a bunch when you could still get them for $25. Last I saw they were on the far side of $100. I can't comment on the Century Time bracelet, but will say the amphibia bracelets are pretty rough.

    Clayman,

mind if I ask where you got the Blancpain styled insert used on most of those mods, such as the 2 in your first pic?
I would tend to look at 10watches (RIP Noah) and Yobokies but I can't see that exact style at the moment.

    thanks

the blancpain style inserts came from 10watches.com/Noah. The last time I looked they were not showing on the site.

Regretably that's because Noah Fuller passed away recently :(
