Well, I don't know what this is made of but it is black and rather handsome.
I have just place an order for a new watch with a DLC coating, I have had watches with both pvd & dlc before, and really liked both, so let's see what you have.
Before I checked, I thought I've had two or three of this type over the last few years, it turns out that I've had seven To get started here's a few of mine so far, let me know what you like and don't like about pvd\dlc

Just one PVD for me - Fortis Flieger.

I rather like PVD on the right kind of watch, usually big, military-like and stealthy. I haven't used the bracelet on mine, as I am not sure the coating will survive that well.
Q&D iPhone pic of my Lum-Tec M9
This Seiko
I have annoyingly scratched the side of the case now which I'm not very happy about. :(
My now departed CWC SBS.
Others include a PRS-4 and a lovely Sinn U2S, no photos I'm afraid.

Sea Dweller homage - and Broadarrow
The PVD bracelet was swapped onto the PRS-4 to upgrade it into a dress watch.
Some really nice examples, all seem to be pvd, while pvd is good, I thought the finish and toughness of the dlc was of a higher standard.
Don't forget ceramic :)
Ocean7 LM4 Shadow
And another Ocean7 G2 in PVD now sadly gone.
I like the look of PVD though get worried about scratching it. Ceramic is great in that it's blinking impossible to scratch but there is the chance that it may shatter altogether if it takes a really big blow or drop.
Just one.. But a good 'un

I have 2 of these, the other one is the 'regular sized Heuer sheild' example. (the one above has oversized sheild). It is at Rytetime now getting a new crystal fitted.

No worries. It's together with a Heuer Lemania that Stephen is servicing/new glass, so it might be a while. I've not used him before, so I don't know the turn-around time.Originally Posted by gray

I've never really liked PVD watches that much until they get a few scrapes and begin to get some character.
This well-used example is from about 1970 and, though having replacement hands, is probably in the state it was in when owned by a member of the Patrouille de France aeobatic team (see inscription).

Here's mine.....even the clasp is black!
That's a seriously impressive piece of kit. I bought one of the blue ones when they first came out, but the Descent is stunning. Really like the bracelet on it too. :thumbup:Originally Posted by MPH2OSkier
Nice to see a Heuer or two represented here in the PVD postings. Heuer were early on the PVD scene, this means that the process may not have been as fully sorted and as you can see from my 1977 Heuer Monza it has some clearly worn areas exposing the base metal. The Monza was budget model, it had the cheaper to produce Cal.15 movement and the body was made of base metals and offered in either chrome plate or PVD as you can see on my well used example.

That's sort of true Darren, but not wholly accurate.Originally Posted by Darren Cal.11/12
It is true that the base metal design helped save production costs, but the range as a whole wasn't an 'economy' range.
There is a Cal. 11/12 version of the Monza (model no. 110.501), this IS referred to as the 'economy model'. It had a standard Cal. 11/12 layout and didn't have the name 'Monza' on the dial. This contravenes what you said about Cal. 15 being cheaper to produce than cal. 12, hence the whole range being 'economic'.

I'm afraid that you can't anymore. Ocean7 made only 100 LM4's and out of those only about 20 - 25 were the shadow version. Though the are planning on making a new model using a different case along the same shape lines as the American and LM6Originally Posted by McBeardy

That's a good price, especially compared to what I paid. There's an entertaining review of the watch here which is well worth a read:Originally Posted by helidoc
