Like the simple dial, the steel surround on the front is a bit AP looking.
Not bad, but not a keeper
I'm always on the lookout for something a bit different with good lume, stumbled across this today, a Lumtec Phantom.
I kind of like it.
What's your thoughts on it, hit or miss?

Didn't you flip an M Tungsten rather quickly last year? Like a true WIS you are coming back for more! I like some Lum-Tecs, but this is a miss for me
Yes, I did move it on quickly, while I liked the watch, the non hack movement was a killer for me, this one however does not suffer from that problem :)Originally Posted by helidoc
It would be a toss up between the V1 and this but I like it and not a bad preorder price.
I like it too;albeit i do think the AP reference stands tall.
A huge miss from me.
A miss for me I'm afraid. Not exactly sure why, but the whole look just doesn't work for me.
I'd stick to Ball if I were you, unless you've been through their entire catalogue by now.

Grotty that, designed by a committee of fans of other watches without a true creative spirit amungst them to come up with something truly new

That looks like the love-child of an AP ROO and a Hublot Big Bang secret romance! :-)
Grotty, might be a bit harsh and will we ever see anything truly "new" again in watch design :?:Originally Posted by gray

It's a miss, and you will find out when you've got it in your hands.
The design is all over the place.
But, now and then you have to give something a shot.
Daddel.
Got a new watch, divers watch it is, had to drown the bastard to get it!

Not for me I'm afraid but have you considered UTS, some of their models may come close to the look and feel you are after.
i dont like it.. it looks (as someone said) like an AP/HBB hybrid but with rounded edges.. bit weird.
Out of interest, how much is this thing?

Not for me I'm afraid. Certainly not for me at 650USD.
The design grates a little for me, but oddly I seem to be fixated on the fact that its a massively chunky case that's only 100M WR. That seems inefficient to me.
Kind of 'meh' I'm afraid. Looks like a fashion watch to me, and I suspect the design will date quite quickly.

"Grotty" is not particularly harsh given my dislike for it. In fact, it was rather tactful :wink:Originally Posted by captainhowdy

Yes, we do and will continue to see very rarely something that is genuinely new and also pushes the boundaries of horology - most of these are viewed as "grotty" or the like by the majority but eventually the design themes and technology does make it through to production and broader acceptance - similar to concept and high end, luxury goods technology development in many markets.
Having said that, of course most new watch designs borrow heavily from existing norms. This one, however, just does not work aesthetically.

I like it. Very stealth! :thumbleft:
I do like it, but then I have weird taste sometimes
