    Re: Some of my strapwork

V impressive, you have a talent. Taking orders??

    Keep up the good work.

    Re: Some of my strapwork

Thanks man :) According orders, you can contact me via pm.

Some new straps. This one is very special, for fashion watch, but there was hard work with it: strap screw in case, and steel keeper inside strap.

Another one is thin strap 22mm for JLC Master Compressor:

    Congratulations!

I "envy" those with manual skills to do such a nice work... I would love to do my own straps matching each watch I have... Maybe in my next life?

Fizik eat your heart out, your cycle seats are AWESOME.

+1 for a strap and a cycle seat as and when you do them.

    Re: Some of my strapwork

#Getzione - I have calf skins from the finest polish tannerys (also english shomakers buying from that source). In near future I will have real bangers (elephant, shark ).

    #carlyrox - thanks

First order from TZ-UK forum. Strap for Chris :)

Lovely straps! I've always been intrigued by having a go myself, but there's too much I still don't understand about it. If you ever find the time to put together a photo-story highlighting the process you go through from start to end when creating a strap then I'd be fascinated to see it. Looks like you're busy enough though with all that strap-making!

Really great. Notable is how your straps have improved over time, design, innovation and craft. Outstanding and well done.

Once I get my act together I'll pm you and see if you can do one for mee.

    Very well done

wow some beautiful straps there! :bounce:
Also found the photo tutorials very interesting, a lot more goes into making a strap that I first thought.

    Re: Some of my strapwork

If you're making custom straps for your friends you should know watch and wrist sizes, right?

Maybe it's an idea to do away with most of the holes? Nothing says 'custom-made strap' like a strap with only one, perfectly placed hole 8)

  24. #74

    Re: Some of my strapwork

There is no "perfectly placed hole". Size of your wrist is changing. It depends of the many reasons: temperature, it is winter or summer, sometimes leather is stretching a little bit etc. etc. One hole is not a good idea. Second thing is design - one hole isn't looking good. By the way, I am making many commercial straps, not only for friends.

    Re: Some of my strapwork

    Hello
Just browsing through the strap section looking for ideas and dropped onto your post.
Your strap work and photos/presentation are outstanding.
This is a new interest for me and was hoping or some information .
In the final images of your post:
    What watch is that?
How would you describe that type of strap with the fastening to the lugs and leather strap behind the case back?

Again lovely work and I think you have guessed that I particularly like the final watch and strap

never knew you used 'Grasa de Caballo' for leather... (Horse Grease)

Is it grease for horses or Horse derived ? (as in Horse fat)

    Re: Some of my strapwork

Some gorgeous straps and thanks for the 'walkthroughs' detailing what's involved in making them. Very informative. Always a bit twitchy about some of the 'exotic' leathers you have on display here. I know people like Roje are very clear on their ethical sourcing standards but it still goes against the grain (no pun intended) a little bit to see some of these. But nevertheless some stunning workmanship on display here. None of my watches need new straps at the moment but I might be tempted by a new belt - you got any prices on those?

  42. #92

    Re: Some of my strapwork

There's some very nice work there. Didn't Rich (Toshi) get into this by going on a course somewhere?

  43. #93

    Re: Some of my strapwork

    Thanks for good word..

    @Jestermedia
I think I can make some photostory/tutorial if sombody will be interested how to make a strap :)

On exotic skins - all are from legal source, european tannerys - I have some friends (also shoemakers) from this business.

According belt - please send me pm, I think we can make something interesting.

    Thanks
    Filip

Is it fair to ask what kinda price you are looking at paying for something like this???

  45. #95

    Re: Some of my strapwork

Why not.. :) About 80 pounds for genuine custom python strap.

    Re: Some of my strapwork

Very reasonable for Python. Are the leather straps similar prices/cheaper/more expensive (clearly dependent on specific leather or finish)??

Most leather straps are cheaper - about 60 pounds. It depends of the order, you can always ask via pm :)
