Casio Protrek. Bought this last weekend and am very happy with it :thumbright:

A big watch with a clear display and a comfortable strap and great features:
    Temperature
    Altitude (surprisingly diverting and interesting)
Compass (not just the bezel - a real compass)
    Air pressure/barometer

Plus all the usual alarms and time zones etc.

    Pic taken last night

Correct time, correct date, on a wrist, not a library or brochure shot. But sideways, oh well :-)

    Hi all,

One of my favourites for its robustness, water-resistance and anyplace, anytime readability:

And I won't mention its comfortable, vanilla-smelling strap...

3000m WR - I don't think I will need that but a brilliant looking watch and reasonable weight as it is Ti.

The original Roamer micro quartz was the first affordable quartz watch, according to Doensen's history of the modern wristwatch, with an electromagnetic movement that predates the MegaQuartz and OysterQuartz. The micro quartz was introduced in 1972. These days, they command a pretty high price, when they can be found.

This one, although it may well have the same case as the earlier models, has an ESA movement. Roamer's movement factory closed in around 1975, apparently, after which they used bought-in movements. Roamer continued to call their quartz watches 'micro quartz', inadvertently causing potential confusion for future collectors seeking the highly desirable originals.

There's some interesting information on the WUS Vintage and HEQ forums (although the micro quartz is not HEQ). In fact, some of what I've written above comes from what I read there yesterday.
