    where should i start?

    hi guys,

i really am a novice to the world of watches and their workings but really want to know more before i make my 30th purchase.

ive briefly looked through the pages on here and see you all talking about eta and calibres etc etc and i havent got a clue so i was wondering if there is either a book or a website that would be able to explain terminology, what movements mean, how some are better than others etc etc

    cheers in advance
    gareth

    Re: where should i start?

Hi Gareth - welcome to the forum, and welcome to what will be a great journey :)

Here's a place you could start viewtopic.php?f=1&t=170550&hilit=+glossary for some terms.

Hopefully others will pipe up with some specific sources, but if you hang around here and are able to use the search function, and Google, then you'll learn quickly enough.

Also, you'll find that most of us have opinions on everything, so ask the question and you'll get some answers - especialy if you give us a 'brief' for a watch.
