Just been to the house with my brothers looking for documents we need. It felt strange but mum made it easy, she left her will, funeral instructions (together with a prepaid funeral bond from the Co-op and instructions for the sandwiches :wink: ) and all bank statements neatly filed. My youngest brother is a musician and newspaper editor so he's been appointed musical director and advertising director for the funeral, my younger brother and I took a vote :D .

I'm very sorry to read of your loss Eddie at this difficult time. Thankfully she didn't have something long and painful. My thoughts are with you.

My Mum died just over two years ago and I miss her and think of her every day in the days when she was younger and healthier.

She had planned everything and her will was quite simple but it still took 18 months to sort out and the solicitors ended up charging a lot more than the original quote.

I phoned the DWP the same day but it didn't stop them sending 3 demands (that arrived on consecutive days) for return of overpayment. I paid them the same days and then a month later received a cheque back because they had sent a demand by mistake.

Then several weeks later the Benefits wrote to say that she had been receiving benefit she had not been entitled to. Then a couple of weeks later after I told them everything they wrote to say they had made a mistake and were not pursuing it further. Daft thing was she wasn't interested in receiving anything but a friend who worked at the CAB persuaded her to as it was 'her right'

I would get back to work as you could do with something else to occupy your thoughts.

Just caught up with this (on my return from hols) - Eddie, you have my sympathies. My own mum died at the age of 88 last December; peacefully, and with dignity, after a short stay in hospital. Still feels raw though, and I can imagine where you're at, chap. Tek' care....
