Seems a bit steep compared with what you usually pay Foggy  .

Hi all
Still getting out and about to the boot sales and still making finds, although much less frequent than the good old days. I don't get so much time to post these days, but thought this one worthy of a quick post.
Found this 6105-8000 at the boot sale this afternoon. An early one, too, dating from April 1968. All original, and believe it or not, the dial and hands appear to be absolutely mint under that somewhat scratched glass !! I'll post some pics once I've had it cleaned up a bit. The movement is running to time and also mint, but will get a service as I don't know if it's ever had one.
Almost forgot the best part - the price I paid.............£12 8)
Cheers

Whole chunks of my life come under the heading "it seemed like a good idea at the time".
Crikey, great find, it beats me how a watch can get into such a state.

Winner!
Please post some "done" pics when you've cleaned it up.
And how anyone has the cheek to charge £12 for it! :lol:Originally Posted by EdRonax

Me want very much! :)
A great find.

Nice. If original, it should be worth quite a bit more than 12 quid when restored.
Again I am reminded, that I have to get my old Seiko '05 repaired
Must be a sign.
Lol - great find Ian, nice to see you post!Originally Posted by swanbourne

:D Great find, will be really nice once cleaned up and with a new glass.
Hate to see the guy's arm.
Kudos on the find.
Great find!
I wonder what happened to the glass.
Might be worth an experiment (for the good of us all) to answer the age old question of can you polish hardex? Just try a corner and let us know? Hardly going to ruin it..
´Pollish´??? It will need a file down leaving the window pane rather thin.Originally Posted by Ruddy

Congratulations!
Hope you leave the bezel and rest as is but then that is just mý opinion about vintage watches.
£15 cash? Nice quick profit, and I'll sort the crystal out myself.
Good find, well done!
Regards
Ian
Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
I will treble that and I'll sort out the crystal myself too! :DOriginally Posted by Backward point

What a fantastic find and price!
All I ever see at boot sales is endless stalls of kids toys/clothing or stuff that mainy looks likes people have that morning fished it out of a skip on their way there.
Well that's any 'quick profit flipping' out of the window, it's worth £12 [b]only[/i] on SC now!
Lovely find! I wish I had the patience for car boot sales, there have been some lovely finds, posted on here recently. :)
When I go to a car boot all I ever see is citron's,fake tag's and fake rolex, and other cheap tat, I long for a nice find. Although I did find a smiths stopwatch, that a doesn't work and b has one of the buttons missing and c someone has painted the back orange, but it was cheap.
I never find this sort of thing!!
Nice find Foggy, much as we'd like to think all the tat TV progs & intranet have wised everyone up, Its still out there if you're prepared to do the legwork :D
Early moning 'acquisitions' of note among my circle of late, (and not all by me  ) No prices revealed, too painfull.
40's JLC P478 Pilots watch :D
2 other JLC's, 30s & 60s
80s Rolex Datejust
50s Universal Dato Compax
Zenith Trench watch
321 Speedy (half a bracelet, no bezel  )
6105, 6309 :D
Various Omega dress watches :D
Clocks... couple of 8 day ww2 cockpit clocks, USAF Fighter station Wall Clock, USN Chelsea Bulkhead Clock, various Carrige/other ships clocks
Best of all, last year a mate had a Lancaster bomber compass, still in its original carry case :bounce:
.....and this is just the stuff I know of, let alone the 'jungle telegraph'
As the man said, not really worth bothering with.
Wonderful , thats a great catch
Mrs pmdf has been trying to get me up early on Sunday's so that we can get down to the local car boot sale. If that's any indication of what we can expect then I'll be out of the bed before you can say that tea's up.
However, based upon previous experience of our local car boot then we'll come home with a few books that we'll never read; something that doesn't fit anything in particular but might come in handy one day. And an egg cup.
whats that worth when its done up then??? Or is profit a dirty word?
Has to be £400-£500's worth doesn't it?Originally Posted by BCD
I've seen some weird stuff put on Shredded Wheat, but that takes the biscuit.
Easily - if the dial and hands are mint :thumbup:Originally Posted by Tai Mi Shu
