Bloody hell - I'd love to go there.
Bloody hell - I'd love to go there.
Attenborough showed these in the Planet Earth series - worthing watching in HD if you can.
Sadly you can't. The caves are virtually innaccessible and the atmosphere inside it toxic and corrosive. It is also very hot. Skilled cavers can only stay inside for about 20mins tops.Originally Posted by vRSG60
However, there are more images of it, and it is truly one of natures most incredible wonders...
I think this pic gives a small indication of scale:
So clever my foot fell off.
thnks for the additional pic Yoda :)
Awsome.
Absolutely incredible
Looks almost man-made, something out of James Bond, "Die Another Day"...
The documentary (cave of death, or something like that) is well worth watching. Apparently there is loads of it beyond the furthest point reached so far but it is unlikely anyone will be able to explore it.
Ironic how far we've been off our planet, but how short we've been in our planet.
There's a quote from The Spy Who Loved Me which has more than a note of truth to it:Originally Posted by El Jack

Brilliant pictures. Off to do some watchin' and readin'.....
There's an incredible Discovery Channel documentary on the caves.
Well worth a look.

You'd swear the first photo was Photoshopped if you didn't know about the caves; certainly a spectacular natural wonder.
