take a look at this website... :?

which year is her LV?
your knowledge is welcome here:
Yesterday I was helping my friend to remove the bracelet of her Rolex submariner (green bezel) to change it on to a nato strap.
Which by the way looks really good.
However...with the bracelet removed the text came visable between the lugs and it said:
ORIG ROLEX DESING
instead of design....
Now the question is...is this rolex a fake, or why the spelling mistake? (or does my knowledge of english language really suck?)
The watch seems to be authentic otherwise.
My friend was given the watch some years ago, and she still has the box and papers.
So...whats the meaning of this weird spelling?
Glad to hear your thoughts!
Thans,
Gregor

Take it to a watchmaker, or reference the serial with Rolex. Sounds like a fake if I was to guess. :( Sorry...
An LV sub should have "ORIG ROLEX DESIGN" between the 12 o'clock lugs. Rolex may be Swiss but they can spell.
I'd get it checked out further....

gotta say it's a fake I'm afraid.
If you google the phrase, the top 10 are all links to 'replica' FAKE sites
ringer
This of course puts you in the awkward position of whether or not to tell her of your suspicions. I suppose it depends on all the circumstances involved (how close a friend, who gave her the watch etc etc).
this wont end happilly for the owner

It was her who saw the mistake, so she was puzzled right away and suspected fake too.
I will post some pics shortly,
thanks for all the comments so far!

The etching seems really rough, doesnt it?
The funny thing is, that a while ago, a jeweler in Amsterdam asked her if she wanted to change for something else in the shop.
She didnt do it, because this watch was a gift.

Gregor

deffo a fake
out of interest how about some pics of the front and back of the watch while you're at it?
It doesn't look much like etching at all..... More like a poor attempt with an engraver... :cry:Originally Posted by gregor

Thanks all for the info!
Too bad it's a fake!!!
My friend being not really a material girl is not too upset about it.
Gregor
What is the dial like?
It's just a matter of time...
I dont have the watch here, so a bit difficult to to discuss it.
I will ask my friend if she can send me pics of the front and back.
will post them later if she sends them.

Very sad. At least your friend hadn't lashed a few grand out on it though - that must soften the blow.
Interesting that the color of the hands and indices don't match. Super-LumiNova shouldn't turn that fast.
Not good - I'm sorry to say, for a variety of reasons - one being the hands are not "fat."Originally Posted by gregor

cyclops ain't too good either
Where to start :( .
Hands wrong - to thin
Fonts are wrong
Crown to short
Plots look to small
Still it would fool 99% of the population :albino:
Sorry - its a minger

It's "funny" that the jeweler in Amsterdam didn't recognise it as a fake.Originally Posted by gregor

As has been said - wrong on a lot of levels. The most glaring error being the one you spotted!
what do the box and papers look like? as the papers are as hard to fake as the watch if the papers are genuine then the watch has been swapped out at some point?
Please tell me that he didn't pay any more than a fiver for that, poor bugger if he did... :

Just read the first post and thankfully she was given it, so lets hope that the person who gave it to her knew that it was a pile of junk

hopefully after the weekend I can update you all on the story.
Me too am curious for the box and papers.
The person(a watchlover himself) who gave her the watch is still friends with her, so he might be able to shine some light on it.
so...soon to be updated!
thanks all again for the replies!
Just being nosy, but, any update? :-)
Here is a small update:
How to say...it seems that the giver of the watch kind a knew that it was a fake....
His story has gotten a bit vague now, saying that he had two of these submariners and 'apperntly' one was fake..and guess who got that one...
My friend all sees it as a big joke and even posted some things about it on facebook like "I love my fake rolex"
Which he found disturbing..........
In my opinion he is such a looser and idiot!
How on earth can you give somebody a fake and pretend it's a real rolex....
I mean..one day the truth will come out on that....
anyway, she is now looking for a new watch, She already has a cartier tank, so this new one can be something cool and not too ladylike.
open for suggestions!
Thanks,
Gregor
what a shame to find out someone gave you a fake
