Snooker at the Crucible :) !
OK - so we have watches, and Jessica Ennis. Shame about her javeline performance, she could have been retaining her world title.
Is there anything else good from Sheffield that I may have missed???

All you need really.
The A625.
Highway to some of the best climbing areas in my youth, Stoney Middleton, Froggatt, etc.
As a bit of trivia it has always amused me that the pub outside Bramhall Lane (Sheffield United's ground) is the Cricketers Arms.
Alex
Bramall lane (note the lack of an 'h' ) has the cricketers arms as it used to be...a cricket ground. In fact both the current Sheffield professional teams only came into being as a way of keeping the cricket team fit over the winter.Originally Posted by st-rider

Ah, Stoney Middleton - I used to go out with a girl from there 20 years ago. Spent a lot of time in the area and it's great in good weather, if a little bleak in the winter. Had some spirited drives back home to Lancaster. Some nice pubs too.Originally Posted by st-rider

I've never been father north than Brum but I have heard there is some old loony who sells watches out Sheffield way who is fairly well respected.

Don't forget the Blades.
Being picky I don't think that counts as it goes past Sheffield.Originally Posted by Foxy100

Can I add trams?

Don`t forget Sebastian Coe was Sheffield-based when active as an athlete. I remember competing against him a few times as a kid in the early 70s.

In my student days I drove over it regularly in a beaten up Renault 5 1.1 GTL with a dodgy steering rack.
Not recommended for Snake Pass.

Opted for b) but I often joke that if they fail the 11+ we're moving back!

Sheffield links some of my favorite Englishmen:
Michael Palin, Jarvis Cocker, Donald Pleasance, Brian Glover, Eddie Izzard and Bruce Dickinson.
Its also the only place I know of with a Monument to Cholera.
Well we are up to three votes for Jessica Ennis - which was the main reason I posted this.
For me she causes me to think thoughts that can normally only be expressed in the "Boys Room".
