    Oris ChronOris 60s-70s

I've seen new Chronoris recently but frankly I wouldn't pay USD3k for ETA Valjoux with red rotor. So, I decided to search for vintage one and here it is. :)

I's from late 60's or early 70's. Manual single pusher chronograph Oris 725, 17 jewels, 18,000 bph. Oris created that movement in colaboration with Dubois Depraz. Brass case, nickel plated. Steel caseback. Acrylic domed glass.

The middle crown is not original, as well as the glass, chrono pusher works but is in poor condition, case is havily wear off so you can see brass, dial needs cleaning, hands have to be relumed but the movement is in excellent condition!:)

What I did so far is: cleaning the case, pusher and crowns, slight cleaning of dial, glass polishing and that's all. I'm looking for crowns and pusher and then the the watch goes to my watchmaker for full service. Case stays as it is now - I will not restore the plating. It looks great as for 40 years old watch.

Looks nice - in the madness of 2007/8 the price of these approached Chronostop levels, and I think it's a nice and quite rare alternative. Personally I would re-plate the case, nothing wrong with doing that. It looks pretty heavily worn for a 40-year-old watch. You are fortunate that the minute ring is still OK, as those are apparently nowhere to be found, even by Oris. I am sure they can provide you with new crowns and a pusher though.
...but what do I know; I don't even like watches!

:D That looks nice and with some cleaning, a service and new crowns and a pusher will be very functional again.

That looks very nice. Agreed that the new one is very expensive for what it is, but it too looks good.

I love these watches and was lucky enough to pick one up off ebay a couple of years ago very cheaply.

And so finally ChronOris came back to me after case restoration and complete overhaul. The case had to be polished before chrome plating but it still looks great for me. There are also new crowns, pusher, glass and caseback. The job is done. :)

I've found great watchmaker in Warsaw - he services all of my watches. The case was sent to some other firm (electroplating) which I don't know.

Great to see another vintage ChronOris brought back from the brink.

The re-edition is nice, but like you I prefer the original. Here's mine.

I'm still kicking myself for selling this pristine ChronOris Racing model I had last year. Sold it for a tidy profit, but even as I handed it over to the buyer I was regretting the sale. I was an idiot!

Not a big fan of total overhauls of watches but this was an excellent choice. Watch looks perfect!
