It does, rather. I quite like that, though (I'm a non-purist and like a date on my watches).

Like KH (finkaudio), I have an original I don't wear much and am very much looking forward to having another modern version of a classic from Time Factors to sport!

    Re: CAF update

In the middle of re-working an old Longines (I assume this case shape started with Longines - maybe I'm wrong) watch sounds like a really good place to be, so well done Time Factors. There's an awful lot in the Longines back catalogue which could stand a new airing, especially these days with an increased interest in more classic designs.
...but what do I know; I don't even like watches!

CAF update -- LE or not?

So, based on the pic at the top of this thread, it seems like this is either a Limited Edition or a combination initial Limited Edition plus a later general edition.

Long, long ago, on forum thread far away, reservations were taken for a limited edition of this watch. Will they be still be honored (for those who are still interested) for any Limited Edition version of this watch? Eddie???

It's not going to be a limited edition and there is no reservation list.

Fantastic. I have no attachment to the limited edition idea. I was lucky enough to secure a Dreadnought when they came out but i always wished that it had not been a limited edition. I think great design should be available to everyone who can pay the price.

I am really hoping that the CAF will be as good as, or better than, the DN was.

Great, but, given the limited number of movements available for the first run, it might be a nice gesture to allow those from the original (years old) waiting list to at least have first dibs on the (non-limited, but likely high-in-demand) watch when it is first released, out of respect for their years of patient waiting and support of the project. Shouldn't be too hard to email them in advance... I'm just sayin'...

I know this is probably a silly question but....
.....Any idea of pricing yet Eddie?

I know it'll be a fair price, just need to see how much more I need to save.

I wager someone will want a very slightly differently style of bag whatever is proposed - ziplock rather than press stud, clear rather than opague, white rather than black

Here's what I've got so far: I asked for a case to check that the strap was a good fit (it is). That isn't factory applied WABI on the case, it's an unfinished case  .

That looks very good. I am especially fond of that case shape. Does anyone know what it's called? I've seen it called 'cushion' but that's wrong; 'cushion' refers to a more rounded and elongated shape. It's very similar to the shape used on Benarus Morays, Panerais and others.

Not sure the correct name, or even if it has one. It's like a cross between a "Tonneau", and a "Squircle".

A small Tonneau would be a "Keg", and that's not very romantic

So i'm calling the shape "Squircle-Tonneau"

I've always referred to rounded-off square cases as cushions :?:

Ah, I always thought of cushion cases as the longer, rounder case shape (like these http://www.doxa300t.com/6309shark/6309shark.htm ).

    Re: CAF update

Mark, I've always thought that Doxa fans had it somewhat wrong. I think I know what a cushion looks like and it's pretty square with some rounded parts. I do think the 6105 Seikos are cushion cases because they are almost as wide as they are long, but more modern Seikos have gone away from that and Doxas are noticeably longer than they are wide.
The shape of the lugs definitely enters into the calculation and short or hooded lugs definitely lend more of a cushion look to a case.

Happy to hear differently and also happy to just use Squircle

I'll leave you with a not-often seen "cushion"

If you put it that way the the Benarus Moray/Benrus 70s diver/Panerai/CAF (BMB7PC) shape is certainly 'cushion'-like but it's still not the shape I associate with 'cushion case' which are like the watches in that link. ;-)

I still think we need a different name (other than 'cushion') for the BMB7PC shape and I agree that 'squircle' seems good for now. I'm sure I've actually seen a specific name for it though, I just can't remember what it was.
