A long one, this, so move on if this worries you. Since I joined I've been meaning to take some pics of my watches (I hesitate to say "collection", that sounds a bit portentous) and share them - I have now finally got round to doing this. So here they are.
Apologies for, inter alia, the iffy quality of the photos, the prevalence of dust and fingerprints and the general lack of artistic merit. This is my first foray into using the macro mode on my compact camera, so I'm learning. Slowly. ;)
Omega Hour Vision Blue
A wonderful gift from Mrs Cain this summer - I love the sunburst dial, the wonderful art deco detailing and appliqué Omega symbol, the date window (sad, I know) and the crystal casebody (because I am a gimmick victim, maybe, but just look at it). The strap is very comfortable and its deployment clasp is sufficiently convenient - and easily adjusted - to make me wonder why all watch straps aren't like this. The 8500 movement inside has proven to be scarily accurate, losing on average 3-4 seconds per week. I wear this about 50% of the time.

Tag Heuer Carrera
My first automatic watch, this, and it has been a constant companion for more than 5 years. I am aware that it's obviously had a hard life, there are plenty of scrapes and scratches, but of all my watches this is probably the one I'd be most reluctant to sell if the time came. The bracelet is wonderfully comfortable, I like the contrast between the faceted, polished markers and numerals, and the matt black dial, and I enjoy the generally uncluttered, simple aesthetic. OK, the movement’s just a decorated ETA 2824 but the thing has a display back, so…

Seiko Solar
When my work took me to some rather unwholesome locations I found myself wanting a smart watch to stand in for my Carrera, without the risk of wailing and gnashing of teeth in the event that an enterprising person relieved me of it. Enter the snappily named SNE093P1. Astonishing. For a bit over £100, it provides very accurate timekeeping in a not-entirely-convincing dressy case-and-bracelet combo, and seems to get by on whatever light reaches it at the bottom of my watchbox. The bracelet feels a bit light and flimsy compared to the Carrera’s, and I’m not a huge fan of the chrome-look, non-moving bezel, but for the money it has been great.

Tag Heuer 1500
My first proper watch, this, dating back to the early ‘90s. The luminous face only holds a charge for about 5 minutes, and the aged tritium hands now glow in a manner best described as “just about legible”. This started me liking the “sport watch”, and I’ve had a soft spot for diver-styles ever since. It’s small, but beautifully made, and the fit and finish remain impressive.

Precista PRS-14
Probably familiar to most on here, this is one of Eddie’s finest designs, IMO. I was in the market for a vintage-look, practical diver’s watch, and this does the job in spades. Looks good on a Bond NATO, too, and the MoD dial layout remains one of the all-time classics. It’s a big, tall, heavy lump, but it wears very comfortably and exudes quality; this is now my default weekend watch, though I occasionally wheel it out at work. Only one photo here, since everyone must know what they look like by now!

Omega f300 Chronometer
A very recent arrival, bought from BigBird (aka Mike) on here earlier this week. I have long nursed a fascination with tuning-fork watches and this one was so tidy I decided I had to move on it. Mike had replaced the crystal (note the Omega sign on it) and put it on a new strap, and it makes a great vintage piece. Another sunburst dial (I think this is what they used to call “champagne”), with the loveliest chapter ring and appliqué markers. Plus my watchbox now has a soundtrack other than ticking. All together now: hmmmmmmmmmmm…

Lovely :) particularly like the top and bottom (watches that is... though I am a bottom man, that seems barely relevant here...)
+1 on the Omega. Very nice watch and nice pics!
Love that Omega.
What size is it and could I be so cheeky as to ask what might be a good deal on one of these price wise please?
Nice collection! :)
Thanks for the pics.
The Omega Hour Vision Blue is stunning!!
Thanks for the comments. :)
Anthony, the Hour Vision is a 41mm case but wears quite reasonably on my c. 7.5" wrist. It's fairly tall but the case shape means it works fine with shirt cuffs etc. No idea what discounts can be obtained I'm afraid. It's a limited edition and when she bought it in June Mrs Cain really struggled to find one.
Great pics of a lovely collection and thanks for posting. I really like the Omega but the Tag Heuer Carrera is beautifully simple. I am a real sucker for detail on the rehaut and wish more watches had it.
Nice photos. Really like the Omega Hour Vision.
regards,
Nick
why the hour vision is not more popular I will never know. They are lovely and the blue dial is perfect. Glad to see your watches get well used too!
that hour vision is incredible!
I am on this forum more and more and my wish list is increasing faster than I thought possible!
Very nice indeed, you have great taste or is that the Mrs?
I really like the hour angle omega movement!
that is some solid styling within
Sorry i am a petrol head!

I must say that hour vision stands out in any crowd :)

The De Ville is very nice! :drunken:
Well clearly I have excellent taste in wives! :lol:Originally Posted by EdRonax

Thanks for the reply. I haven't seen one in the 'flesh' here in Cardiff and wasn't sure what the going rate was.Originally Posted by PreacherCain
Fantastic looking watch.
Great collection!
That Omega hour vision's got me all dribbly again!
Nice collection, especially the Hour Vision Blue which is very beautiful for a dress watch !
Nice collection and photos. Thanks for sharing.
Yes that Omega is just sublime. It is not often I will say that about modern watches and modern Omegas in particular but that is just lovely.
Thanks for sharing
Very smart collection. The Omega vision blue is a peach.
Really nice Omega, congrats!
Not seen that Omega before, very nice indeed!
I wasn't sure on the hour vision, but now i think it does look pretty good! :)
Not totally my collection tho, but there are a few very nice ones.
Nice selection, I agree the hour vision is lovely. Can't quite understand why Omega never used raised applied Omega lettering on these rather than painted logo, ....as they do in other co-ax autos, in contrast to their quartz offerings.
The Hour Vision for me.
Never seen one before (well still haven't in the flesh) but looks like the kind of watch you could wear just about anywhere without someone thinking you were a flash git :)
Great photos. Its alway interesting to see folks collection
the gold omega is an absolute stunner!
Lovely collection, well photographed and eloquently written. :thumbright:
