Hi Guys,
Im new to this watch thing but I notice that many of you change the straps on your watches quite often. What tools are required for this and where can i get them from?
Thanks.
Darren

A standard screwdriver in the correct size will work too, but you might want to cover the lugs with scotch tape if you have no steady hands. ;)
The pliers are meant to be great, but quite expensive at around £100. I use the Bergeon 6767 myself - adequate for most jobs (springbar removal, bracelet pin removal etc.) and only a tenner.
If you're in London there is a great watch tool shop off Clerkenwell Road, if not, these guys are good:

Another happy 6767 user here :)
Gentlemen, I do thank you. 6767 duly ordered. Now all I need is some straps.........

(allthough with a liiiittle higher price... :( )
Yep got to be a bergeon, the one with the smaller forked end, I've changed loads of straps since having mine. Don't bother trying to bodge a screwdriver in there, it'll only end up in damage at some point.
Those pliers look quite good for bracelets though, not seen those before, are they a common tool in the 'professional' world then? Don't think I'll ever be stumping up £100 for them anyway that's for sure...
:)
Just a few hours ago I received the Bergeon 6767f that I ordered,
and it looks (and feels) like a very qualitative tool.
Strongly recommended ! :thumbright:
Does anyone know where can I order the spare 3mm Fork in combination with some 22mm thick (heavy duty) spring bars ?
Thanx ! :thumbleft:Originally Posted by Marios
The Bergeon 6825 is pricey, but a worthwhile investment if you're a frequent strap swapper. Much easier to use than a standard springbar tool, and far less likelihood of lug damage.
It's at the junction with St John Street and it's called Gleaves. Well worth a visit - famously grouchy staff but they stock everything you could possibly need.Originally Posted by sepsonto
I'd agree with the tape on the lugs, I've scratched the hell out of the back of my speedy changing straps
as a newbie iv ordered the tool and suprised how easy it is to change straps. Nothing to it
