Very, very nice indeed. Not a bad decision at all to get it properly seen to but even better to have it back. For me this is THE ss Chrono and the large date at 12 just finishes it beautifully. I hope you get much pleasure from it for many years.
I bought this watch about 3 months ago but after having picked it up i noticed the chrono hands were a little off their marks . Being the OCD freak i am I sent it off to Vacheron hoping they would fix it either under warrenty (which i was chancing with anyway given the watch was out of warrenty) or charge a nominial fee for doing so. However previous to my ownership it had been opened by a non Vacheron approved watchmaker which aparently they know from a mark inside the case? so i get the good news it was going to need a full fervice before they would touch it......at £780!. I could have cried when i got the call however i really liked the watch so decided to bite the bullet and get the work done. I've owned litterally hundreds of watches and none have given me the "wow" factor this one did when i first put it on so wasn't going to give up on it!
I got a call last week it was in so I picked it up today and I'm VERY happy with it. They've given it a very light polish and as the watch was near mint anyway it looks good as new now. Even taking into consideration the cost of the service I paid around the price of a new Daytona for it and having owned both i can say the difference in quality feels night and day (no offence meant to Daytona owners, I'd love one again but not for the price of this!). The Vacheron has a nice weight to it and feels chuncky without being overly big and even in my circa 7" wrists it feels comfortable and looks great. The dial is a really deep black with an intricate pattern and this is by far the best AR i have seen on any watch, you litterally can not see the crystal. Oh, and it has a date too!! :D. I really wasn't sure about the oversized dial for the chrono minutes when i first got it, OCD was kicking in and everything HAS to be uniform for me however it's grown on me and it's just something else that makes this watch a bit different from every other black dialled chrono I've owned! It's really hard to describe but the bracelet just feels "right" too. I struggle to get a good fit with watch bracelets but this feels like it was made for me and i love the style and design of it.
Sorry for going on a bit, just very happy with this one and it's been a long time since a new watch excited me! On to some pics :)

Wow absolutely stunning
I love it! I was looking at this watch in the VC catalogue and thought to myself that if I was only allowed one chronograph watch in my life, this would be the one. The bracelet is also very iconic and unique; it must be very comfortable.
Blooming stunning, i'm green with envy
That's nice
Bloody hell, that's nice. Great pics as well. But please sir, can we have some more...?
Stunning. Wear it in good health.
That really is another level of class. The service shock can't have been pleasant but the results are hopefully worth it. I'm sure it is, and it'll give you many years of enjoyment as a result. It's a thing of rare beauty - I don't ever recall seeing anyone with a VC on their wrist anywhere I've been before - and whilst Rolex are nice, personally I'd take that in a heartbeat over a Daytona. Thanks for sharing the pics.
Awesomely 8)

My grail chrono how big is it ?
just such a nice watch wear it in good health
Congrats! A true beauty!
£780 for a service ! Wow, however watch look very very nice.
Very, very nice. I'm loving my overseas date to the point where I'm probably going to keep it as my only high end watch eventually. Hope the service cost for a non chrono is a bit less
Oh, you lucky lucky little son of a luck merchant!
The best chrono of all time ! Stunning watch, enjoy.
Call me old fashioned, but I prefer the old bra. Top watches, second to none.

Costume jewellery. Ouch!!!
Very nice, I'm a fan :) wear in good health.
Congrats, that's a beauty - enjoy!
Thanks for the comments, I'll hopefully get some more pics done later today if i can bring myself to remove it from my wrist again! :D. I think it's officially measuered at 42mm but doesn't feel overly large on and is reasonably thin for such a large watch with chrono.
The cost of the service was a bit of a nasty shock but this one really is going to be a keeper so "happy" to pay it to get the watch back perfect and for the peace of mind knowing the watch is all OK as far as VC are concerned and won't need looked at again for 5-10 years. Given what I've spent and lost trying to get a watch I enjoy wearing as much as this, it's actually good value if you look at it that way (see, I've almost convinced myself!! :D)
Enjoyed the write up and feel your pain!!!

That really is a gorgeous watch.
It sounds as if you would never have been completely satisfied until the watch had been serviced. You have got that out of the way and can now enjoy the watch without any niggling doubts - that must be worth £70-80 a year :)
Congratz! It is very very nice.
Unfortunately we don't have any wacheron ADs in Sweden.
I to would choose that one before a Daytona.
Cheers
John.
That strap is truly a work of art.
Classy little piece.
Timeless. Which is strange for a watch....
Now thats really nice, def a Vacheron shaped hole in my collection.

Forcing you to pay for a full service must contravene competition regulations. Surely. Though I suppose you oughtn't to have given it to VC for the problem with the hands :(
Beautiful watch
Totally my kind of taste and i am quit jealouse!
It looks perfect! :drunken: :drunken: :drunken:
Superb!

Respect the past, live the present, protect the future
Very, very nice.
That service bill stings though  . I'd have that (if I could afford it) over a Daytona in a heartbeat.
A real stunner this VC !!!
Love it and as others have mentioned prefer this to a Daytona. You certainly don't see many of these around.
Its a stunner all right.
Great watch and worth getting some TLC from someone you can guarantee will be doing the best job possible.
Haven't seen many VC around ... I'd happily wear that myself - great choice.
stunning watch... good position in my wish list
Great one….. enjoy it
Next on my very long list.
very nice but the cost of service is crazy 780, anyway congrats looking good
Congrats. VC is one of the big three for a reason.
your pictures look great, a real stunner!!!
