They made a movie about a laxative?
Poped along to see Senna and what a cracking film really enjoyed it. Thought it very very well made and to build something that flowed so well and really told the story very well. Putting together lots of old clips and making it fit so well was great work and well worth the visit.

I watched on the first night it was released - incredibly moving film. I remember watching that fateful Imola race in '94 live. People in the cinema where I was were crying at the end.
Haven't seen it yet. I've only heard good things from those who have seen it.

I really enjoyed it, his first "home win" was the highlight for me, stuck in sixth gear. brilliant stuff.
I don't do Cinema (why TF do I need to listen to people eat popcorn?) but got dragged along to watch this.... Was thoroughly engaged throughout!
I haven't seen it yet, but I will at the first opportunity. Senna's single mindedness used to annoy me, but I never stopped respecting him as a driver and racer. As I'm sure you know, he was electric in qualifying, and I'm honoured to have seen him. Here's a picture I took of him during practice for the 1986 British Grand Prix at Brands Hatch:
Yes, saw it on Wednesday. Everuything you've heard is true; moving, exciting...and waiting for the fateful crash is gut-wrenching. Powerful stuff.
Got my tickets for the one showing June 22nd. Really looking forward to it.
Going tonight

Agree, very good film.

Dohhh! was supposed to go last night and decided to do something else last minute.
Then you see a thread like this!
MUST GO THIS WK!!!
What's with the crap jokes? :DOriginally Posted by Seamaster73
I thought it was an excellent documentary. I was a little disappointed that more of Senna's contemporaries weren't interviewed, particularly Nigel Mansell, Nelson Piquet and Niki Lauda, all World Champions who competed against him. I also found the last 10 minutes or so very uncomfortable to watch. I love motorsport and realise it is a dangerous activity but I really didn't want to watch Roland Ratzenberger and Ayrton Senna crashing again. I looked away from the screen when the crashes were shown. I did the same thing earlier with the Martin Donnelly crash, even though I know he survived.
Seen it.
And posted comments when it came out 2-weeks ago.

Thread resurrection for the DVD release...
Didn't manage to catch this one at the cinema as my local Odeon was too busy showing the usual teen-flick rubbish.
Just bought the DVD and watched it last night. I agree that I would have liked to hear from Mansell, Prost etc and it was a very sad final 10 minutes, but overall...what an amazing film!
I have the deluxe blu-ray on the way and can't wait to see it again.
The Missus let it slip last night that she got the blu-ray for my birthday as a little extra - can't wait!Originally Posted by Phil Lee
Enjoyed it very much.
It's been a long time since I was in a cinema, full of adults who were completely silent throughout the whole film, and remained so even when they were leaving - such was the effect of the movie!
I'd watch it again - very moving. Is the longer version available on DVD now?
ordered it Monday. Am waiting for it to arrive
I am looking forward to this. If the dvd is the longer version I may get it as well
The fastest hour and a half or so of my life, it could have been 6 hours long and I would have happily paid for it and watched it all.
Loved every second of it, and will be getting the DVD as well.
Watched last night just fabulous monaco in the wet !!!!
What an arse the French FIA president was     :x
Already seen it and as above, everyone, including non-motorsport fans were completely transfixed. I thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait to get the bluray.
Still havnt seen this, thanks for reminding me!
I bought the BluRay Monday and will watch it tonight.... The wife is out so I can watch in peace..
Cheers..

Looking forward to seeing it. Proper racing relying on only the driver and not all the electronic aids.
Except Senna moved to Williams precisely because of the electronic aids, which were then outlawed.Originally Posted by michaelh

watched it on the plane yesterday. what an amazing movie. Quite emotional last 15 minutes or so. . .
I think the best advert for it is the number of non-F1 fans glued to it. ie Me.
Think I`ll get the DVD and watch it, sounds like a very powerful film.
Slightly OT, I`ll dig out my copy of Le Mans and watch it again. Several of the drivers who appeared didn`t survive much longer, such was the state of driver safety in the late 60s/early 70s when Formula 1 averaged around 2 deaths/season. Great film, but the subsequent fate of some of the drivers adds a poignancy to it which wouldn`t have been appreciated by those watching it's initial release.
Motor sport has done great things to improve it's safety record but, as recent events prove, the risks can never be totally eliminated.

Fantastic film. It was never shown near me so bought it on DVD. Even my wife was glued to it and she hates F1.
Some incredible footage, for instance the clip of Ratzenberger chatting to his technician the morning of his death.
Not a fan of f1, which put me off but think I'll have to give it a watch now!
I watched it last night having downloaded it (Rental) via iTunes and streaming it to my TV using Apple TV - a first and worked perfectly.
As others have said, it was an amazingly powerful film and before watching it I was struggling to see how it could be made compelling - I guess that's why I'm not a film maker!

Saw it at the cinema and on DVD found it compulsive both times,
I was luck enough to catch this at the cinema which was great, although it sure did show up the low quality of the video. Great film though
On the Senna theme, anyone know where I can get an official Nacional cap from (not those horrible knock-off's)?
From the official F1 store at: http://f1store.formula1.com/stores/f1/p ... ?pid=91549Originally Posted by pilotman

Compelling viewing
Its on my christmas list... hopefully my girlfriend will do her job!! :-)
Saw it when it came out at first, great movie.
And the Mrs got me the DVD last week so it wil get another viewing over the next few weeks.
Hopefully the extra features on it are worth a watch, I was kinda hoping they would have an extended version of the main movie.
I think my blu-ray version has an extended version of the movie. I'll take a look when I get home tonight.Originally Posted by mailforkev
