You can't go wrong with Panasonic imo.
I wonder if anyone has enough experience of these to recommend a sub £200 model that would be worth seeking out? Thanks in advance. I just got a 3-D tv so thought I may as well get a player too.

And the beauty of digital - they all produce the same picture when playing blu ray.
Save some more money fella...
And buy a full set up with a 7.1 surround sound system..
Its Amazing sound quality , Mine makes the house shake :D
And watch Avatar in 3D its Awsome
Eh????? Next you will be telling me all cd players sound the same?Originally Posted by SimonG156
Let's not get started on that one. A Panasonic sounds like a good idea though.Originally Posted by Josh B
If only that were true :)Originally Posted by SimonG156
No, because they require a dac. Analogue varies, digital never does. Blu ray is ones and zeroes all the way to your tv. You think if you download a 1:1 copy and play that back via a pc it matters what our hard disk is like? Or your hdmi cable?Originally Posted by Josh B
We've got three Sony Blurays in the family, all are superb- faultless on Bluray as far as I can tell, and especially good at upscaling DVD, which gives a new near HD lease of life to your older stuff too.
My old man has the BDP S580, which is the 3D one, but also does wifi for wireless BBC iplayer etc.
Hope that helps

Partly true but what about Other functions such as scaling, deinterlacing, edge enhancement, noise reduction, color correction etc.Originally Posted by SimonG156
Panasonic are decent as are Samsung and Oppo have a good reputation but I have never used on myself.
I have seen 3-D Blu Ray players for £99 and for £499, both from the same manufacturer. What do you suppose the more expensive one has to offer over the cheaper models? Can it be purely extra facilities?
