I LOVE that.
The mesh is very different..
The postman dropped off this fantastic 1970 Accutron "Snorkel" today. It's huge for a vintage Accutron, at 41mm x
45mm with a 20mm band, and in outstanding condition with the original dual crowns (both Accutron-signed) and
HEAVY-duty mesh bracelet. The mesh is 'shaved' flat for a serious sport look. The clasp is also Accutron-signed,
and the bracelet came with a diver extension, which I removed because it was too large for my wrist otherwise.
Love it. :happy7:

Fantastic watch and the first mesh bracelet I have really liked.
Great find.
nice mini :blackeye: nice catch, was on my snipping list :D
I don't normally do this but THAT is a thing of genuine beauty! I don't normally go for mesh either but is a great combo and the dial really "pops" to use an over the top phrase. LOVELY!
That's stunning.
Been close to buying a few of these lately but nothing as good looking as that.
Was 'Snorkel" the name in Europe and "Deep Sea' the name in the US? (or vice versa ? :? )
Think these also look great on a Tropic rubber strap but I doubt you'll be taking it off that 8) shaved mesh.
Good question. I thought they were two separate series, but maybe not...Originally Posted by Emeister

Nope, just the leather case for my camera (Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3).Originally Posted by emstudio

That is a great looking watch. Have always fancied one of these myself and that is one of the best I have seen and a great mesh as well. 8)
Stunning!
As a wearer of a '70s influenced Halios Laguna on a slightly flattened shark mesh and an admirer of Accutrons I am bound to say that I am consumed with envy - that Snorkel is way cooler, and what cracking condition! Congratulations.

that looks like a cracking example...it's nice to see that the first quadrant is still fairly bright and not too faded as they tend to be. I've long had one of these on my wtb list :)
What they said
I've owned a few accutrons over the years, a couple of which were real crackers but this is something else.
 That's lovely and in great condition. PM me when you get bored with it
Gray
looks to be in great condition
That's the mutts. Thanks for sharing.
An absolute beauty - you must be delighted. 8)
That's pretty cool!
Nice Accutron. I like the Spaceview the most though.
Strange name though, "Snorkel."
Quite demonic depth rating too
stop wetting myself!
stop wetting myself!
how sexy is that?
Always loved the hummer movement but not always the watches - this one is so much nicer! A beautiful watch, enjoy it.
Cheers,
Andy
That's a very cool watch Tom. Such superb condition too.
Not only that, but...
I just checked the accuracy after one day on the wrist and it had gained one second! Now that's an ACCUtron. :thumbleft:
.
I had one of them. Top watches. The case of that one looks refinished.
The Astronaut might be the more desirable but it’s tiny compared to the Snorkel which is very modern looking watch.

Costume jewellery. Ouch!!!
Coolest mesh Ive seen, not normally a fan but that is nice.
:D Cool watch and in stunning condition, great catch.
It is known as 'fitted mesh'.Originally Posted by DMW536

Beautyful watch and mesh bracelet. Dont the brand make automatic watches too?
Now they do. I find it a bit awkward for Bulova to build and sell mechanical/automatic watches under the brand name of Accutron (ACCUracy through elecTRONics). The current owners of Bulova are just trying to exploit the upscale image of the Accutron brand. Poor form in my opinion. :angry7:Originally Posted by jazzman
Yes, that struck me as being strange too.
Anything to make a buck, I guess :angryfire:
i have not seen this movement in action, does it have the wonderful smooth sweep like the Omega speedsonic?

Lovely watch that, long been on my wishlist. I've got one of the earlier, automatic Snorkels. Keeps fabulous time, but is rather small by todays standards..
This looks amazing
Personally I don't like the mesh.... but the watch itself made me drool :D
As a life long Accutron fan I'm really jealous.
Dang you for having one when I don't.
I'm just a very naughty boy.
Good deals with- VINSTINK, kevkojak, Optimum, Omegary, seikoking, acg, SPEEDY, kfman, Card Shark, wajhart, Jot, danboy, zenomega, gaz64, minke, Mal52, Alas, norfolkngood, Sparky, rdwiow, mrteatime, gravedodger, joeytheghost, lordoftheflies, Silver Hawk, Filterlab, brooksy, marmisto, Fray Bentos, Bootsy, Harvey69, Mantisgb, bristolboozer, Jedadiah, newtohorology, Zephod, jimm1, Draygo, Raptor.

I can't afford the watch but where's the Cooper S Type from? 8)
It's made by the Franklin Mint. More...Originally Posted by vRSG60

Another fabulous watch, N0 is my year of birth too. A lot of these Accutron divers seem to have been made in 1970, it must have been a good year for Bulova. Any chance you could do a thread with pics of your collection?
Maybe soon... :wink:Originally Posted by snedboy

And this is some stuff I wrote at the time:

These days I am into the spring drive. Same as the 'trons but without the sound.
The f300 Seamaster 120 is another very highly valued tuning fork diver. With fitted bra.
Or hooded lugs.

Costume jewellery. Ouch!!!
I've got an Eterna tuning fork watch, but that one is nothing compared to this one. Very very nice, the size is also a lot better as my Eterna is just 34mm and it's just too small.
Bloody cool IMO. enjoy
James
I recognise that photo John... must have been from an old sales post as its been a while since i had a black one, but i still have 3 (maybe 4?) smf300s, and i believe its the first article we did for deskdivers that gave us the format we have today so it has a special place in my heart etc. DeskDivers Seamaster f300 article if anyone wants to read a bit more about the sexy f300 dive hummers which have lineage from the Accutron movement in the snorkel.
As a few of you know, I also had an affliction for accutrons and hated the fact they were generally small, even if they were cool LOL... but the snorkels are a better size, tho pictured below is the grail (term used advisedly and absolutly true in this case) version that is one of mine that isnt small at all.... it is known in some places as the '45mm', but i measure it a mm or so smaller than that but its more with crown etc. It is super rare and very few accy collectors have even seen one, and i dont think i ever saw one on a forum either. Its very much like the Omega Seamaster 1000 of course. I love it and wear it often. :)
If anyone else has one, drop me a line as there are not many with original dials still and id love to see yours...
That looks good.
I have an Omega f300 geneve diver, ref 198.029, incoming. I've seen it described as a 'skin diver'. Possibly quite rare, I can only find a couple of other examples on google.
