The boxed set is very nice.
And the catalogue with the photograph of an old race car.
To find an unused example of something this rare is a real achievement.
Well done
Here´s an interesting set I just acquired, a set comprising of a Chronograph and two Hanhart Rattrapante stopwatches for navigational purposes, issued to the German Bundeswehr in 1967. On the back of the wooden box is a makers stamp from the firm that made the boxes, Ruhmannsfeldner Holzwaren, dated 11 Sept. 1967, and on one of the stopwatches, there are the remains of a Bundeswehr sticker with the date/year 67shown. These are extremly rare and have only been seen in books, so I consider myself fairly lucky to get my hands on a set.
Konrad Knirim has a picture of the set on page 577 in his book; Military Timepieces, 150 years of watches and clocks of German Forces. I was also told Kesaharu Imai also has a picture of the set in his book.
Unfortunately no other written information is suppied in either book, so a little more homework will still have to be done.
A picture of page 577 is also supplied for those not fortunate enough to call those books their own.
The NSN no´s for the set are; NSN 6675-12-140-9136
and can be looked up here;
NSN lookup
The No´s engraved on the back of the stopwatches are; 6645-12-137-2101 Bw
I still had a catalog from 1957 on these stopwatches from Hanhart on my hard drive;
Best Regards

Dear Jimmy
The J88 on it's own would be a good find; an unused and complete set like this is just fantastic :thumbright:.
In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.
I totally agree... Very nice indeed! [img]http://www.dezinvanluxe.nl/phpbb3/images/smilies/eusa_clap.gif[img]Originally Posted by Carlton-Browne

Congrats !
Very fine set !
I have the same bund markings on my Hensoldt binoculars (which are for sale BTW) :
Laurent, now that you mention it, I´ve got a Bundeswehr Hanhart with that on as well!
BWB means - Bundesamt für Wehrtechnik und Beschaffung- it is a civilian federal authority which develops, proves and finally acquires for the German Army, Airfoirce and Navy.
This tag has nothing to do with the NSNs.
BTW Jimmy,
congratulations. Very nice complete set :) ! You are now able to make a sensible fix of your home besides and independent from GPS :wink: .

What hth meant was this :wink:
The BWB and its agencies are placed under the Directorate General of Armaments at the Federal Ministry of Defence. They are thus below the ministerial level, together with the IT Office of the armaments sector.
The BWB is the largest technical authority in Germany with headquarters in Koblenz and equipping the armed forces responsible, with modern technology and modern equipment. Only exception is the realization of IT projects, which the IT Office is responsible for.
BWB is supported in fulfilling its mission by seven military engineering departments and two military Scientific departments. These specialists provide technical input for project management and carry out the BWB defense technology and defense scientific research, trials, studies and market analysis.
As a further service in the downstream area of ??the BWB, the naval arsenal , with its two plants are responsible for maintenance and repair of naval ships and boats .
A liaison office in Reston / USA represents the interests of military technology and armaments towards American and Canadian authorities and the official site of the industrial segment.
The BWB makes a significant contribution to ensuring that the Bundeswehr can fulfill Germany's security commitments as a NATO and EU partner.
Just what I need after a bottle or two of Château de Durette Régnié Vielles Vignes :Dcongratulations. Very nice complete set :) ! You are now able to make a sensible fix of your home besides and independent from GPS :wink:
Excelent post! :diabloanifire:
