 Wow!
We had a visitor at work,
Samson the Golden Eagle:
3m wingspan and the biggest talons:
His trainer flies in a microlight with him and he was telling us he is probably the most well known Golden Eagle in the country with numerous TV appearances, he was stunning.
 Wow!
what sort of job do you have that a golden eagle just pops in?
Class teacher in the infants, we get all sorts of interesting visitors, birds, insects, reptiles, fire-fighters, Police dog units, footballers from Brasil, dancers from Mangalore, the older children have even spoken to astronauts, it's good fun.Originally Posted by toastie

I'm in the centre of Barnstaple, you know the town?Originally Posted by nitsy
Yep - used to live there. I trained as a teacher in Devon, but then moved away as jobs were scarce at the time.Originally Posted by wampa
Small world! Jobs are still pretty scarce, apart from Head-teacher roles, they can't fill those vacancies.Originally Posted by nitsy

Really stunning :rr:
It's a shame there are not more in the wild. Buzzards are the largest bird where I live.
The learning is topic based and the head is really willing to give lots of real life experiences in the hope that it will strengthen the learning.Originally Posted by toastie
Lots of Buzzards here too, amazing too, we were on the edges of Exmoor and a group of Ravens were jostling it until it left.Originally Posted by Sam100
I have a number of birds of prey working for me 5 days a week, they keep the seagulls under control.
Stunning bird of prey indeed. That first pic is just excellent. That bird could stare me down, let alone a poor little wabbit.
Should have seen him when one of the kids got up to go, his eyes didnt leave them for a second as they left the hall.Originally Posted by Gould

Must have been an amazing moment when he returned
Superb; I was watching them on Mull in May, along with the even larger White-Tailed Eagles.
Then only last week I saw the Lake District Golden Eagle, right in clear view.
As an aside, check out Mortimer, the Buzzard that's afraid of heights
