Nice but tbh I prefer the black bezel
I had been contemplating for some time modding my Speedy 3572.50.
I finally got all my parts prior to Christmas but had to wait for the last part.....a silver bezel
So it is finally finished and I love it.
At some point I will pick up a classic 60's/ 70's Speedy Pro
Nice but tbh I prefer the black bezel
Wow! That looks really cool and the mesh bracelet. More pics pls!

Love that, looks fantastic! :drunken:
A very nice change from the standard look; I own the standard but it's always nice to see something different that is tasteful. Perhaps Omega could learn something here when doing their limited editions.
Enjoy
Thanks for sharing, looks great.
Thanks for the positive comments.
When I posted the idea originally with a mock up I got a kicking for messing with a classic.
Looks cool - ignore the brickbats from the Speedy fanbois, it's your damn watch. This watch is as ripe for modding as any other, and that's a nice combination you have there.Originally Posted by MFB Scotland

Looks really sweet on the mesh. I have always had a soft spot for silver / white dial speedies
You do need a conventional Speedy pro to go with it though.
Very nice custom. Did you do the work yourself?
Looks good on the mesh
Would look great with the black bezel as it'd tie in with the black sub dials.
Still looks stunning on Mesh though.
Looks very smart. Would love to see it with the black bezel too.
That's a really nice custom job. I love it just as it is.
Probably would stick with a trad speedy hair puller
Bracelet if it were mine. :)
Other than that.. 8)
I like it on the mesh.
Looks good :thumbright:
Mesh very fetching too.
Thanks for sharing. I like the mesh, as it gives the watch a completely new look.
You deserve some kudos for taking the plunge and creating something unique. As others have said, it would be interesting to see it with a black bezel (on the brown strap), but for me - and your photos accentuate this - the hands merge into the dial when they're not passing across one of the sub-dials. I had a Tag Heuer Carrera for a while which had chrome hands and a silver dial, and the lack of definition was the reason that I sold it.
I think that I posted a shot of the dial and hands of one of my Seikos when you originally floated this project. The Seiko Panda (6138-8020) has a cream dial with dark blue sub-dials, but the hands are black, with lume inserts, and they stand out from the dial beautifully:
I recall that Omega used similar hands on their Alaska Project Speedmaster:

But I'm not sure how easy it is to get hold of a set of hour and minute hands.
Anyway. It's an interesting project, and well done. Nobody should criticise you for modding a classic watch - there are enough of them around, and nothing that you've done is irreversible.

Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
Thanks for the comments.
I have a spare black bezel which I will keep and swap now and again.
I take the point re the hands. I have seen a similar mod with the black Speedy hands. It also looks
great.
I think I will buy either a classic 70's Speedy at some point or perhaps a 4.5.
Very striking Panda.
Simply wow!
That looks fantastic on the black leather it does look a bit "Daytona" but that's never a bad thing!
:)
Looks good on the dark leather.
Not bad, believe I prefer the black dial, but this definitely has something nice about it :)
Well done !
