Sea dweller what should I be looking to pay

    Hi guys

Seen a nice 16600 on a 97ish but not sure what a good price is. It's up at 3500 is this a good price?

No papers tho, is this a keen price?

you don't say whether your buying private or from a dealer etc but if your looking at spending that sort of cash on one you could do a lot worse than this one mate and you will at least get a warranty etc

I reckon about 3.5k in good conidition is the top end unless obviously you are buying a Comex.

Currently the SD price has gone ballistic........too much in my opinion. 12 months ago I paid £3200 for fully boxed and paper'd SD. Insane!!!

I paid £1950 for one less than 3 years ago! (Sold to a mate!) Shows you where they are going!!

Ha,That's the one! Thinking its at the top end tho, and no papers does worry me a bit! Not sure at all. Am right in thinking this is top end? I know it's a dealer and would rather buy private but need one local to me! (Southampton)

I'd also say that £3200 was a very good price back then!

£3500 is an ok ish price - although might be lucky and find one closer to £3k (boxed & papered examples are selling for between £500 and £1k more than a loose watch - the one at the dealers looks nice and with a warranty just in case, adds a bit to most loose watches. A little over 6 months ago I would have said £3k for a loose watch would be ok to high - now I think it's cheap as...

    It is worth looking at what else you lose out on - how much for;

    Anchor
    Booklets
    Swim Tag
    Chronometer Tag
    Box &
Finally the original papers - I'd happily be paying £500 more than a loose watch - but that is me.
It's just a matter of time...

i've just got 2 SD's!!! One to wear and one to put away for a rainy day.
Both are minter than mint Z series with all papers and bits and pieces.
Can't wait to get them - they should be with me early next week.... 8)

Wow - two in one hit is a little crazy :D

I think I have given up looking for any more - they are starting to be about the right price and then they will be too expensive, I would recommend buying one sooner rather than later.

One with original papers, boxes and recent service just sold in SC for 4500! They're only going up

Re: Sea dweller what should I be looking to pay

At 3500 with no paper its there abouts looking on SC, with out boxes and bits id say a little less .The only thing is the sd seems to be going one way so 6 months down the line it will seem cheap. If you buy now and send for a rolex service when it needs it and get the 2yr warranty then it will seem a cheap purchase what with the way they seem to be going.mines complete but warranty card missing ,so i will be doing this when its due servicing(you dont wear the paper)

The spiel on SC about needing to flip the Sub cos you'd found an SD of your dreams rings a little hollow to me. Especially as its your 3rd sale in quick succession. If it quacks like a duck...

Josh B - no need to hijack a post to moan at me.

It's a discussion thread here so discussion is hardly hijacking it now is it?

Here is where I've seen you show your colours so here is where I'll call you out on it.

Re: Sea dweller what should I be looking to pay

    Isnt it obvious?

If not I'll spell it out. You were a runner to get into sales corner. And as soon as you got the 250 sure enough off you went. 3 sales in quick succession.

Now that's either desperation or dealing as far as I can see. But it cannot be desperation because:

You then let slip you've dropped what must be around 8 grand on 2 SeaDwellers. While claiming deep regret to sell a sub to fund a SD purchase. That's bullshit and obviously so.

I'm suggesting you're a dealer or out to profiteer on here.

    Some just get lucky?
All about being in the right place at right time, especially on SC.

The prices are driven by demand, if everyone stopped buying prices would drop, fact.

I would not be in a hurry to drop £3.5k on a watch without all the items.

I don't know, I'd happily pay £3.k for one of those Milsubs without a Rolex box or warranty papers ;)
