    Bobby Moore

Hard to believe he would have been 71 today. A West Ham legend and a genuine hero.

    Re: Bobby Moore

I am far form being a West Ham fan but I can say that Bobby Moore was one of my football idols along with Sir Bobby Charlton, both amongst the last of the 'Gentleman' players and IMHO England's two greatest ever players. They had all the skills to be one of the world's top players in their positions and the drive and desire to win, yet showed respect to the opposition and a degree of personal humility. Today's players could learn much from these two.

    Just my 2p worth

Supreme footballer, and gentleman - unlike a lot of today's captains.

One of the worst managers Southend United have ever had. His team talks where held in a pub (I forget which one) on Southend Sea front run by his old mate Brian Dear! The management team were Kevin Locke and Frank Lampard senior. The club captain Micky 'Fatty' Stead got the pies in! :D

    Well said Bonzo.

I am a West Ham fan and I remember him broadcasting on the radio almost up until his death.

The greatest club and country captain ever who led by example and who no doubt will be the only England captain ever to raise the world cup when West Ham won it in '66. :)

I will shortly be adjourning over to KUMB to reminisce with like minded people.

    RIP Bobby.

    Cheers,
    Neil.

    Re: Bobby Moore

As a Hammers fan I had the privilege to watch him regularly .

Only Bobby Moore could control a game without crossing the half way line and walk off at half time without a mark on his kit, unbelievable .

inch perfect passes curled with the outside of his foot , the result of hours of practise , always the last one to leave the training ground. He was magical to watch,
    what a loss.
