    First try at mods

Well i have been wanting to do this for ages and kept wimping out but today i finally had a crack at my first watch mods :?

First up is my wee SNX427, I really like it but the white date wheel annoys me.

    Next a SNK809

I ordered replacement dial and hands from yobokies and as always Harold was a true gent to deal with.

So i cleared my bench and got stuck in.

And surprisingly all back together again and working
My new "SINKO" and a slightly improved SNX427 :D

Actually it wasn't as bad as i imagined it would be, the only tricky bit was getting the minute hands back on again.
I learnt a lot and it's quite addictive, i want to try a couple of divers next.

wow - love the sinko as well, amazing what a difference a relatively inexpensive mod makes!

Muchos respect for having the balls to crack on with this

The diametric opposite to my attempts when I first opened a watch. Well done. :D

No it wasn't bad at all, just a matter of getting everything organised and keeping everything clean and dust free ....... and keeping calm :D

    Re: First try at mods

I have a Seiko kinetic titanium with yellow face, which I've tired of (love the watch - just gone off the yellow dial)
Don' think I'd be up to doing the mod myself - is there anyone who'd undertake the mods to somehting like this Sinko?
    Any links ?

    Thanks,

    Z

I don't know anything about the kinetics but you could contact twickersdude, he seems to be the man for modding Seiko's these days.

Since this thread has been resurrected I can update my post above - which I posted over 3 years ago :!:
I was after something like the Sinko - but eventually found out that those parts won't fit a Kinetic.
    So this...

    Now looks like this...

Very happy with the result :D - I posted about it in March here - viewtopic.php?f=24&t=216535
So Kinetic owners do not despair - it can be done to Kinetics too (albeit with a more limited range of parts)

Fair play zelig, your Seiko mod job is awesome. That looks like a perfect grab and go beater for me. if you have the time i may drop you a message asking for more details on your watch and the mod parts etc. Very nice, especially on that coloured nato.

No problem - as in my linked post - I'm no expert - I got my advice from Kev (aka bubblehead ) & I contacted Rob at http://www.monsterwatches.eu as per Kev's suggestions. Rob was really helpful & suggested suitable parts & then fitted them.

He even suggested I sent the watch for modding to make sure everything fitted - before I paid.
