Jammy Devil indeed - have rather lusted over those since they came out.
Today I took delivery of my new Stowa 1938Chronograph. It was ordered on 27th November last year !
I am told the long wait is all part of the Stowa experience.

That's a beauty. Well worth the wait!

Good choice :) Had mine for just over a month now.
Lovely watch but I don't think that I could wait that long. I will have to wait until someone sells one,
It really does look classy, doesn't it.
Good things come to those who wait... but it would be preferable to buy on SC!!

Thank you for your kind comments.
I knew it was going to be a big watch, at 41mm diameter. However, I am surprised by (a) the weight, 100g, and (b) the height 14.7mm. It is a hefty lump of a watch.
But I am not disappointed. The quality is excellent, I love the clarity of the dial and the decoration of the Valjoux 7753 movement is superb. I also purchased the Milanese mesh bracelet in addition to the standard mid-brown strap.

Welcome to the world of Valjoux ownership!Originally Posted by Jammy Devil

I'm very jealous, these look just great and I think the Milanese suit them nicely.
Looks very classy 8)
Probably been said a lot of times, but it has something from the IWC Portuguese.
Congratulations, a very beautiful watch!
Indeed something of the IWC although I like the detail that went into designing this dial. Everything fits just right. No halve numerals here, nothing overlapping. Very stylish!

It is nice, but I agree with MzM - it's not quite a Portuguese homage, but it's certainly been influenced by it. It would be interesting to see them side-by-side.
One of the nicest Stowas I've seen :thumbright:
Gorgeous ! :thumbright:
.
Stunning :D
Absolutely beautiful.
Want! :D
That is very nice, what is the finish like? How does it compare to other brands?
Congrats, that is a looker.
Stowa makes a really fine watch. 8)
Thanks for all the kind comments. It is a beautiful watch and the quality is superb. Unfortunately, this morning it is all boxed up and waiting for the FedEx van to collect to return it to STOWA. The milanese mesh bracelet supplied was too big, and the watch had been fitted with the wrong crown. It came with an "onion" crown (the sort which STOWA use for their flieger watches) and not the straight-sided crown with the STOWA logo, which is advertised on their website.
I'm hoping their customer services department will turn this around quickly. I have waited for five and a half months from placing the order to the watch being delivered.
:(
Beautiful watch, wish i had the funds...
that looks really good, goes well with the mesh.
A very elegant watch and I agree it looks on the mesh. Now you point it out, the onion crown does look out of place. An odd mistake for Stowa to make - I have always found their quality control second to none. I presume it is beautifully finished?
The Stowa web-shop shows the 1938Chronograph version with the white dial having the straight-sided "Stowa" logo crown, but the black dial version has the "onion" crown. Also their Flieger chronograph has the "onion" crown. Perhaps this is something future Stowa customers should be aware of. If you want a particular version of the crown then it might be best to ask at time of ordering.
Very nice. The black dial version is also very pretty.
Nice watch, congrats
very classy!
Is the bronze very coppery or does it look like red gold? Sorry to reawaken this thread but it seems like the 1938 is a relatively rare purchase...
