There's been a bit of moaning recently about watch talk becoming boring and very Rolex focussed, which I agree with. So let's have a post for the plastic-fantastic G-Shock. Cheap, cheerful and the antithesis of the Rolex.
Here's my GW-3000 to start off:
I'm still trialling and erroring, and must have been through at least 15 of them. I'd quite like a Riseman, but until they bring out a version with cyclops I'll be sticking with the analogue ranges.Originally Posted by learningtofly

I think a Giez will be next on my list. The closest a G-Shock comes to a normal looking watch.Originally Posted by Rod
Nice Gs!
Just the one for me at the moment.....
I've just bought a GW 3500 - I love G shocks but have come to the conclusion that analogue hands are a much simpler way to process time at a glance. This is my first ana-digi in years, solar/atomic, tough movement, ok lume, 5 alarms, decent chrono, countdown, the ability to show 3 time zones at once, and a bright Led for when the lume fades - what's not to like!? (well, it is a bit ugly!)
Like many on here I have bought and sold several, and finally settled down to these two
& I've got a Final Frogman but no pics as yet :)
I've only three Gs at the moment but do feel the need to find a suitable square to balance out the current collection.
First up is my newest and while not technically a G-Shock it is closely related: a PRW-2000T-7ER on the titanium bracelet.
While having a huge diameter of 50mm the watch is incredibly light and comfortable. The ABC features seem to work well, add in the usual G function modes as well as solar and atomic and what more could you ask? This one will be coming to the Highlands (along with my PRS-18Q) for my holidays in Sutherland.
I also have the now hard to find GW-6900 - please excuse the crude
and a Mudman - which although non-atomic is hugely accurate.
That's me off to give the last two a rinse.

One of my better G-Shock shots. Getting rid of the dust was a real chore
Had the 3500 for a day last week, but it felt too big. Wearing the 3000 today, which has the same case, but doesn't feel so large. Maybe it's the yellow?Originally Posted by andrewcregan
One of my 4 - a Frogman. Need to get the oil refilled as the bubble's a bit too big but love the shape.
Too many to post all but here are a few of one type the MR-G.

Not seen one of these before. Rather nice. Any more photos?Originally Posted by Mitch

This is a popular model. And being radio controlled and solar powered as well as that retro look it ticks a number of boxes. And 200m WR.

This was my G-Shock collection a couple of weeks ago
Until I decided the GW3000 was too big for me and although the M5600 was the perfect size I felt the strap was too skinny. The Riseman is perfect but I can't bring myself to get it beat up at work so I got the Mudman
The only downside on the Mudman for me is the non solar/atomic and the display can be a little hard to read at times so I've got a solar/atomic version on it's way! I think I will constantly find excuses to buy more G's!
Vey old (and crap) photo but love the fact that the time sets itself, the battery never needs changing, and it takes everything I can throw at it. As the saying goes 'Does what it says on the tin'.
Yet another Frog..., erm, Riseman.

I tend to prefer digital G-Shocks, but this is lovely, and a perfect summer watch I thinkOriginally Posted by andrewcregan

I have a few, but here's an old and new Riseman for starters:
My new G-Shock GW4000 came yesterday.
Totally loving it......so lightweight and comfy.
Aaaaaagh. Wasn't going to but I'm now going to have to scrape some funds together for a G now! Never owned one but always wanted one.
Black King, Riseman, Aviator... all so very nice. And Solar Atomic is a great intention. Must resist a WTB. :)
Let's see a picture of it. We've not had one so far.Originally Posted by zenza

That's a serious collection. How does the GW4000 compare in size to the GW3000? I've just moved from the GW2000 to GW3000Originally Posted by stu65
and the difference in size is quite noticeable.
Do these nasty toys not melt in this weather?
Does anyone know if the bracelet for the GW M5600 is the same as the GW 6900 one? I've got a 6900 on the way and was wondering if one of my spare 5600 bracelets fit. I looked on tix tox and they seem to show the same picture for both versions.
They're the same, although they can be a challenge to fit.Originally Posted by GuyIncognito

Thanks. Yeah I know how much of a pain they are to fit. :mrgreen:Originally Posted by bonzo697
A few years ago I bought the bracelet from Tiktox to fit to on to a GW6900, and I believe they sent me 5600 springbars with it. Might be worth dropping a line to Keith Rose.Originally Posted by GuyIncognito

Loving this thread, some great G's. Particularly envious of Stu's collection.
The GW4000 is wider but not quite as tall... like it has been flattened out a bit. It certainly wears bigger.Originally Posted by bonzo697
Glad to see you're enjoying the GW3000 :)
I am, Rob. Some of the features are slightly daft and less practical than on the GW2000, but the main reason I bought it was to have an analogue G-Shock.Originally Posted by RobM
