Oriënt delivers very good value for money, and the quality is excellent as well.
But the movement, sturdy as it may be, is a very simple one.
Does the job very well though.

Hi,
When I found out that there is a real GMT -movement from Orient it came "must to get". Then I found out that by about 300 UK Pounds I can get it from orientuhren.de (no other connections to them) I just ordered it.
(picture stolen, sorry)
To make it short; It works in good and bad like ETA 2893-2 so you can addjust the 24 hour hand what ever full hour time you like. Power reserve is bonus. Quality -price -level is incredible compared to swiss competitors because there are not so many.
I am not seriously saying that this is really competitor but.....
(picture stolen, sorry, but they did t first)
... but by about 10 % from that price.....

(Yes I know. Omega movement is much more nicer and user friendly)

Got a new watch, divers watch it is, had to drown the bastard to get it!
Hi,
Now I don´t really follow because usually simpler is better.
How ever i´d like to know how much this has common with ETA -movements (or any other).

As far as I know it is based on an old Seiko caliber, that Oriënt further developed.Originally Posted by JP (Europe)
It has nothing to do with any ETA movement.
AsI said, it's sturdy and simple, but difficult to regulate due to the absence of a good regulator.

I do not disagree but I´d like to learn more. Any pictures links etc?

I agree with comments here on the quality of Orient and had a few myself.
Steinhart do a Diver GMT for around £340, so not much more than the Orient and has a Swiss movement too.

The movement in the film is a low-grade orient movement, but most of their movements except the very high-end ones are based on that.

I wish Orient would put this movement in a sportier watch, as dressy watches just aren't me :)
They do, don't they?Originally Posted by MichaF

Nice, I like it!
Not bad, it would look much better on black leather IMO 8)
I just looked at orientuhren.de, they have a good selection and fair prices, so thanks. I see myself ordering yet another "holiday watch" soon
Adjustable 24 hour hand makes it a stay at home GMT, not a travel GMT, so not for me - I use my GMTs for traveling so need an independent hour hand, so none of the base ETA 2893-2 models and their ilk are any good for me.
I have this one, not a great pic :
Operation is identical to my old GMT Master, at 2% of the cost.
It's on a Timefactors strap there, but I've since returned it to the bracelet. It's a fine watch, but I think a little too chunky for me. The retailer I bought from ( automaticwatch.eu ) has since advised me it cannot sell into Japan any more. Shame, as I can't get this one locally.

A nice looking watch, be better to see what it look like on your wrist. I do like the look of the Omega also except for the bracelet.
