Nice pics. I have always liked that Seiko as well.
It is a great day so I though I´d share a couple of my favourites.
No matter how many watches or pocket knives I´ve tried I always come back to this combo: Victorinox Scout from 1992 and and Seiko 6309-7040 from March 1977.
The Victorinox came along with a Swiss Army watch I bought in 1992 when I left home for university. The Swiss Army lasted about five years and went kaput beyond repair. The little pocket knife however goes on and on... It has become one of my most prized possessions. The 6309 is a much newer acquisition - I got it from mr. Mike Mounce (thanks Mike, for this and the others also... ) on March 25 this year. I just happened to have a 22mm Bond Nato laying around and it was a match made in heaven. - I´ve tried a bunch of straps and bracelets on this one but always come back to the Bond. IMHO it suits the 6309r eally nice, especially as this one is not a safe queen. Here you have some close ups:
Did I say it was a lovely day? Here´s a shot from the backyard
Have a nice day!

I am on record as saying my 6309-7040 is probably my desert island watch - I don't know why, can't explain it, but it is the watch I feel least like I could sell on one day.
Strange, huh?
(It's the one on the right, wearing a Bond NATO :D
I know your thoughts exatcly :!:Originally Posted by Steve264

Love the case design on that. Call me old fashioned
I saw that coming and still forgot to duck
The 704x cushion case is certainly one of the best looking ( best?) looking divers Seiko has ever produced.
A shame IMO they went into the 6309-729x with the smaller case style that they have more or less continued to this day on the 007.
Cheers,
Neil.
That's a really nice case-shape, and really what is starting to attract me to them. The other thing is that they've got the lume on the right end of the second hand!Originally Posted by Neil.C

Why on earth they have gone for the index at the "wrong" end of the second hand on the 007s is beyond me.
No doubt Glenn Seamaster 73 will come up with a really good reason.

Neil.
When I had a 007 I eventually converted it with the second hand from a SKXA35, with the lume at the right end, at which point it looked far better to me!

What's that on the Orange Rhino? :? Looks good whatever it is.... :)Originally Posted by Steve264
Great pics and the case of the 6309 looks wonderful. Thanks for sharing.
It looks like (big breath) an SKX case with a Black Monster dial, 007 chapter ring, steel bezel insert from a 300 quartz tuna can, and a set on hands from either a Samurai or a Marine Master.Originally Posted by vagabond

y'all have a good 'un!
Hmmm. thanks for sharing guys.. now lets see more of your favourites, shall we? :D
You got all five right as I made the watch which Steve bought off me a couple of months ago. The case is beadblasted (by Bry) & the hands are from a titanium Samurai, the 7s26 movement is from one of the chunkier Seiko 5 models, which I fitted because of the white on black day/date display.Originally Posted by Qatar-wol

Since then it's been through all sorts of different guises with various combinations of different dials, hands, straps, chapter rings etc, I even tried a different crown once! Eventually I got sick of mucking about with it as I could never find a combination I was entirely happy with (maybe I was trying to build the perfect watch ...... if such a thing exists?!?) & sold it on to Steve. I wish I'd kept the bezel insert now though :(
By the way I agree with the comments about the 6309-7040 being just about the nicest Seiko diver. Personally I think the automatic Marinemaster 300m, & the vintage 6159 version, just beat it in the looks department ..... but the 7040 makes a great alternative & is much more wallet friendly

Hi Paul, long time no see m8. How's the decorating coming?

I know, I must admit I always really dislike day complications on watches generally and they seem even more out of place on a divers watch  but I suppose most dive watch wearers aren't divers.Originally Posted by xpatUSA

Are you sure that alumimium scaled Swiss Army knife isn't actually called the "soldier" model. It is the model issued to the Swiss troops. It has a main blade, reamer, combined large screwdriver and bottle opener and combined can opener and small screwdriver. They do a model exactly the same, apart from having red anodized scales called the "pioneer".
