    Transfer printing

Has anyone any experience of using home printed water-slide transfers to make their watch dial?

    Re: Transfer printing

I used them for everything on black on this dial:

I initially tried using one waterside decal the size of the dial, but found it practically impossible to do without bubbles. For this dial I cut out the decals around the text...if I were to do it again I would try and cut much nearer to the text/patterns as the area of decal at the edge is visible from certain angles.

It's an interesting exercises but it doesn't create a fantastic outcome...I'll be looking at different options in future.

    Re: Transfer printing

Don't know if this will help or hinder, but I've printed straight onto dial blanks, by using the CD carrier for my printer (Canon Pro9500 Mk11) and cutting out the centre of a blank CD the right size to hold the dial in place as it goes through the printer.

    Results so far have been variable - but that's because I'm a slap-dash good-for-nothing.

I thought of that, but I don't think my printer will do cd's. Also, as it's a chrono dial that I want to print I can see problems with getting it all aligned right with my limited skills!!
