    Happy Anniversary!

    It's June 30th.

Twelve months, a year, three hundred and sixty odd days ago I smoked my last cigarette.

From 50 a day to none

I was a smoker who didn't blame the habit, I just liked to smoke - a lot.

But seriously, anyone thinking they can't do it, I have the lowest willpower in the universe - DO IT!

Not after any 'well done boyo' comments, just amazed at myself so felt like sharing

Well done Burnsey, that's a great personal achievement for sure, you can feel rightly proud of yourself. Be interested to let us know how you feel, i.e. do you enjoy your food more now, have you put much weight on, do you feel fitter, and what have you done with all that money you've saved.
    Cheers.

Well done that man. And i know you feel better for it because i've done the same.

Smoked 40-50 a day all my adult life, and you could easily double that daily amount during gigging periods.

Smoking was my life, and i just made up my mind to stop one day 7 years ago, and i've never smoked since.

Isnt it amazing though just how much smokers stink now

Now that i have senses again, I had no idea i smelled that bad to a non smoker.

If you smoke you stink. It has been 15 years for me, from 60 a day to zero. I have put weight on though

    Well done, burnsey!

I started smoking when I was 16 and kept at it until I was 28.

Gave it up in December 2000 and started again last June.

I'm now off them again, and haven't had one for 2 weeks today. It was a little scary how quickly I fell back into the cigarette habit again, though.

I think everyone puts weight on. It's a mixture of something to do, something in your gob  and comfort.

I put close to three stone on and have lost half of that over the year. I've been ill so planned exercise went by the wayside otherwise I think it would have been a stone on and 6-12 months to get back to normal.

Funny thing is I was never ill until I stopped smoking and one of my many ailments is a breathing problem. After all the lung tests available to man it was diagnosed I have the lungs of a 45 year old. For a 50 a day 30 year smoker, they 'should' have dated at around 70, so looks like I was one of the lucky ones.

Money wise, I'm not a lover of paying for a packet of chewies on a card like most of society, so always had £20-£30 a day in my pocket for ciggies. Now a couple of pound coins for lunch and I'm happy. My wife has spent the savings. They do. They are evil.

Top man, Steve - I'm not even going to crack my usual joke because that's some serious quitting.

    Happy Anniversary!

Good stuff, did you use any nicotine replacement? Did it myself back in 2008 but was only coming from about 15 a day for 5 years. I managed to go cold turkey on those bad boys but 50 a day is a whole different ball game.

That must be freeing up some good cash to throw at your other expensive habit here!

Well done, on June 15th it was ten years for me, it has taken pretty much all of that time to loose the extra weight though.

I reckon it's funded my watch habit ever since

    Re: Happy Anniversary!

Well done everyone who's given up. Congrats on the anniversary.

I've never been a smoker but on the flip side my mum and dad do - my dad suffered a double heart attack on Wednesday that they have attributed to smoking. So for anyone thinkin of giving up - do so. Thankfully he is ok at the moment but he now has to stop. He had cut down to about 20 a day but I hope and pray he will do as advised now.

    Well done Burnsey.....stick with it.

I`ve never smoked so I don`t know what trying to stop is really like, but I know it can`t be easy because so many people struggle to do it.

    Re: Happy Anniversary!

Well done. It took my parents better part of a year to do it.....back in '83-'84.

I am glad they did, doing quite well at nearly their 70's.

    Again, congratulations.

Based on average pack price of £7.46 (web based source) that's a grand total of £6807.25 you have saved!! Almost enough for a new Rolex after the latest price rise!

Good work buddy, your body will be thanking you for it even though it probably doesn't feel that way at the minute!

Well done just like falling off a log.

    Keep up the good work
