Small improvements on a cheap Alpha GMT

Well I started out with this....

The pepsi insert had some minor scuffs on the side, but the biggest disturbance was the "pimple" on the crystal.

So I changed the insert with the black/red coke one and the crystal with a high domed Sternkreuz

    Small changes, big difference

I like that - subtle mods but very good choices.

I like it too, but is the date window a touch small now?

I think it is. Or maybe a surround would help offset this?

The date window is the same size as most of my watches with a miyota movement. It is small, but legible and IMHO in balance towards the marker at nine

Quite but it is not a marker If you like it then that is case closed.

Out of interest, do you have any pics of other watches with this movement/date window for comparison?

    Case closed then

I don’t have another one with the Seagull ST25 for comparison…. but similar movements (without GMT) are….

The Tiger Sea Dragon with DG2813

    Compressor Homage with Miyota 8215

    Kienzle Classic with Miyota 8215

Mainly the last watch shows that the raised lines around the date make it look bigger…. but the size remains the same.

Makes it look bigger AND in proportion IMO. The Tiger is an intersting one as it doesn't look too bad but not sure if the curvature of the glass is distorting it a bit? The compressor hommage is different as there isn't another 'rectangle' to compare it to.

    Nice set of watches though
