Strap changing and minor service work, a newbie guide?

I've had a brief look here but couldn't find much information and search seems to be constantly broken. Anyone have any good links for minor refinishing work and also changing straps? My knowledge so far runs to using a cape cod cloth for shiny metals and that strap changing requires magical powers! So please fire away.

Best is to let a professional do the refinishing or do as I do - live with the scratches

Found these videos about changing a strap:

    Simple explanation:
    1. If you want to avoid scratches, mask the case with some tape.
    2. Use one of these

Spring bar tools are a must for changing straps, I would never try to refinish any scratches myself, I send my smp bracelet to someone else for refinishing when it gets covered in scratches.

Unless your bracelet/case is in such a state then minor scratches are easy enough to sort yourself tbh.
