Just been out for a pint with a new colleague (Smiths content)

My boss just employed a new member of staff to help me a few days a week and also on my day off, and today was her first day.

She's a really nice girl, very intelligent and very much 'one of the boys'. Slightly eccentric, but in a good way.

So at the end of the day I had a couple of hours to kill before a rehearsal so asked if she fancied a couple of pints. Couldn't see a broke uni student turnig down free booze, and I was right.

Turns out we have quite a lot in common. She drinks bitter and worked for a brewery last year. Loves Monty Python, Blackadder, Fawlty To etc. etc. The list was actually quite long.

She also mentioned one of her hobbies is blogging on tumblr, went on her page, but it was a bit over my head. All I could gather was she is a HUGE fan of a TV programme called Sherlock.

I noticed she wasn't wearing a watch, but as we were getting on really well I thought I'd mention that I liked watches and spend a fair bit of time on this forum etc.

She then said 'watches?', 'never seen the point in why some men love them so much'. So I said quickly changed the subject.

Just before we left the pub, I nipped to the loo and when I came back she had her watch on the table.

    Couldn't believe it:

She said her father gave it to her and was only made out of pewter. Had to take a pic (obvs), and she asked if I was going to put it on the forum and if so could someone recommend where to get a new chain from, and whether she should get vintage or modern?

I started to explain the connection between the forum & Timefactos & Smiths, but we were both leaving so said goodbye and left.

Put a big smile on my face though

I've seem chains on Heinnie Hayes for around £10.
    http://www.heinnie.com/Accessories/C...s/c-1-718-719/
    but they aren't Pewter.
And there is a £2 postage charge now for orders below £30.

I prefer to use paracord, or 3mm soft rope for a lanyard.
The chains will scratch the metal work and the acrylic crystal.

I could forego the eccentric and into watches bits if necessary. ;)

I never said she was pretty...

    But as it happens ;-)

NB Thought 'long and hard' about which forum to post this. Decided WT would be safest.

Thank you for that recommendation :-) I will mention it when I see her next. Think paracord sounds like a good idea.
