    Amazon..... Blimey!

Ordered a new cat flap from Amazon for CWMBO yesterday evening, standard next day delivery so I was expecting it sometime today.

At 07.40 this morning it arrived! Blimey, you cannot get much faster service than that! Amazon,

They pay the tax that they're required to, the problem is with HMRC.

I ordered something from Play.Com over a week ago and it still hasn't arrived.
They did say 6-7 days delivery though and it was free :-)

This is common place in big business, the issue is with loop holes and the HMRC not fully understanding how the business operates, subsequentially they can not fathom how to apply tax to it!

Completely agree. If such activity is considered legal per HMRC rules, then why on earth should they or would they pay.

And as a frequent Amazon customer, I find the service they offer to be excellent.

Yep, if there was a legal way of me paying less tax I would do it.

Back to subject I have always been very pleased with Amazon.

End of. To sell goods here they should pay the same level of taxation as UK based retailers,
it should be a level playing field otherwise it is anti-competitive.

Same goes for StarBucks and their ridiculous made up payments to themselves for image rights,
intellectual property etc. It's a bl@@dy coffee shop ! that also sells overpriced cakes and sandwiches.

When ever you hear the word Luxemburg you know there is a tax avoidance scheme going on.
HMRC need to end the avoidance now and bill them for the last 7 years.
Starbucks are bricks and mortar in the GB of UK and should pay tax based on sales here...
Amazon is not and so while it might not be popular why would they pay more tax than they are required too, would you "Tip" HMRC?

On the subject of speedy delivery, I once bought a CD from EBay at around noon on a Sunday. At about 3pm, the doorbell rang - it was the seller with the CD. Turned out he lived round the corner and brought it round rather than posting it.
