    M&S Ultimate Sausage Roll

Has anyone had 6" worth of more pleasure than one of these bad boys can deliver?

Never had one until yesterday when I was browsing the M&S food hall with 'er indoors. At first I thought £1.99 for a sausage roll was taking the rise. After all, you can get a few hundred frozen ones from some of the lower-class supermarkets for that price. Ultimately though I was tempted and I have to admit that I drove out to Meadowhall today on the pretext of getting some socks, but in actual fact I was in search of another 6" of pastry heaven.

I would have taken a shot to show you how good the pork filling was, and how dense and buttery the pastry. But I ate it instead on the way out.

Try and get one if you can. It's the best I've ever had.

I love six inches of pork in my mouth! And a sausage roll...

Was this in the fridge section? Or was it hot?

I prefer lightly fragranced tuna on pita.

Sounds pretty gay to me! You'll be jealous when I'm stuffing myself with six inches of meat!

The thing with pork, I find, is that it leaves an unusual taste in the back of the throat?

They were on the deli counter - only in the larger M&S stores I think. They were cold, but came with reheating instructions.

    I didn't need them.

Well I've had a lot of pork in my mouth over the years and I love the taste and sensations that come with it, so maybe you just need to get your lips around some more meat to get used to it?

Anyway, forget pasty sausage or skinny pork, a nice girthy black pudding is where heaven lies.

^ It's the word 'girthy' that cracks me up here.

I had one once when they first opened the deli counter in golders green.
They haven't had then in since.
Maybe to do with being an area with a high Jewish population(that's what the girl at the counter told me anyway)

It's true, once you have had black pudding there is no going back.

Pret A Manger used to do a lovely if calorific sausage roll, not sure if they still do, but worth checking out if you get the chance.
