As a modern era car, still nothing impo comes close to a Ferrari F355.

Absolute perfect size and shape when you see one in the flesh

It was very rare in the UK. My childhood friend's folks had a 604Ti. According to a source on the internet, there were only 25 roadworthy examples left in the UK as of 2011.

Are we talking about the same car??

Tastes differ and with retrospect it was craftily styled and the coachwork even more impressively made but at the time I thought is was simply ugly and the metallic brown/bronze did not help. My association is very negative.
Have not seen one in the metal for décades though so maybe it would look better now.

What happened to the V6? Do you know?
It was a very reliable and at that time much used engine.

    p.s. found it.

I had a Peugeot 504 from 1970 - 1974 but I lusted after a 504 coupé. My favourite is still the Citroen SM.

Whole chunks of my life come under the heading "it seemed like a good idea at the time".

Im talking about the 604 sedan, as mentioned.

Only familiar with it in silver metallic - never saw one in shit brown, but then they were always rare.

    A beautiful car.

The French made some beautiful cars - too bad they werent made to last.

The CX 2400 Pallas was an Autobahn locomotive and poetry in motion.

The preceding DS (déesse = goddess) wasn't so bad-looking, either:

The Maserati engine and in particular the way it was mounted in the SM were a subject at school (automotive engineering). There was something special about the drive shaft but I don´t remember anything about it.
I do remember that I was fascinated by the number plate being somewhere in the deep of that wónderfull conservatory at the front.
It was the only time I have ever seen one in the metal.

I confess to not having appreciated any of the Citroëns untill they went PSA and it was all gone.
They were so unusual to work on that I just couldn´t see beyond it.
Nów I am awed by the out of the box thinking.

The R4 seems to be the notable exception. There are still several in daily use over here.
That R4 is also still all one needs in/around town or a rural area. Anything more on a vehicle like that is the consumption trap at work.

Best looking modern car design EVER!

The Alfa 8C has to be a contender IMHO.

Now that's not too bad at all , especially for a new car. Much better-looking than the Pagani Hernia or whatever it's called.

Something for Eddie to drool over.

Citroen Sm with 2 extra doors and one less roof!

Good to see a couple of 250s picked (California and GTO) but I think the most beautiful by far is the 250GT SWB.

Everything after that was a retrograde step aesthetically.

I think I'd probably agree. The F355 is still the best looking Ferrari of the modern era, and probably of all time. The proportions are just perfect, and it is far more beautiful than the 360 etc that followed it.

I've driven a couple of 355's, and they are wonderful to throw around a track.

I have been tempted to get one as a weekend car several times, but the running costs are the only thing that put me off.
So clever my foot fell off.

    **splutters**

Surely not old boy... really? I mean, what on Earth makes you...
Each to his own of course. It would be a mundane world if we all liked the same thing.
