What a fantastic creative head on his shoulders! Some of my scariest and most memorable childhood moments in the cinema were due to him... RIP Ray Harrryhausen.

RIP Harry. I still most CGI looks dreadful when compared to his stop motion work.

RIP indeed. I've enjoyed lots of his work over the years, let's hope some of the films he worked on are given an airing.

His animation made some of my favourite films. The skeletons in Jason and the Argonauts are amazing.

A true pioneer and master of an artform - I met him a couple of times. He leaves a terrific legacy.
So clever my foot fell off.

R.I.P A master story teller, who took me on many an adventure as a spellbound lad. Sad loss.

The bronze giant (can't remember the film) scared the crap out of me as a kid, still not keen on it now! A genius, sadly gone.

I think that was 'Jason and the Argonauts', and it still looks great to this day. I think I remember Steven Spielberg saying in a documentary that RH was one of his main inspirations when he was younger.

Seeing that film for the first time as a youngster simply confirmed my love of fantasy/sci-fi. He was a master. RIP.

    That's a shame, a decent innings though.

I loved his stuff as a kid and as previously mentioned knocked spots off of that crappy CGI you see in everything nowadays.

    His effects looked real.

    RIP
    Cheers,
    Neil.

For anyone who doubts Mr Harryhausen's impact, BAFTA had a tribute night for his 90th Birthday

    http://www.bafta.org/heritage/featur...n,1153,BA.html

It includes a film made by Peter Jackson (Of LOTR/Hobbit fame) when he was a teenager directly inspired Ray.
Ray lived in Britain from the 1960s and his entire collection of models and artwork was donated to the National Media Museum in Bradford- they are still in the process of cataloguing it but if you're local it will be worth checking back.

his work thrilled me as a child. Now, i find i am bored and irritated by too much cgi in movies. The film 300 was an awful cgi nerdgasm of a film. hated it. Jason and the Argonauts had me transfixed.

I remember watching Jason and The Argonauts at school when I was about seven. The skeleton fight blew my mind.
