"This Is The End"
If you did not grow up in the 1980s or later, this movie may not be for you - - I encourage you to stay away. My wife, who grew up in the '60s and '70s couldn't stand it. Anomaly that I am ('50s/'60s) loved it and consider it among my all-time favorites! That's saying a LOT considering I'm no real fan of Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, or (especially) Danny McBride.
I had read a couple 'headline' reviews that led me to conclude the movie was worth the risk despite a cast I didn't particularly like. I gotta say I was overwhelmed by the imagination, depth, clarity, and entertainment this film tackled and delivered. Super kudos to Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg for writing and directing this near masterpiece.
I can't say I was "all-in" with some of the VERY crude teen humor thrown in (and believe me, I'm no prude!), but it wasn't enough to sidetrack this brilliant work. I won't get into the plot or ending other than to say you thirty-somethings will have reason to chuckle at the end.
RECOMMENDATION: If you plan on seeing this movie, the less you know about it the better. Avoid watching movie trailers/previews, reading reviews, or discussing with friends who have seen the movie. This is one of those movies IMO where the less you know going in the more you get out of it.
