    My hobby, Making straps.

    Hi Guys.
For some time, I'm trying to do own custom straps.
Here are the effects, two straps I've recently made.
    What do You think?

The leather looks nice and a good effort for sure. Do you have much experience working with leather? I only ask because the crooked stitches (not running in a straight line) would really bug me. Proportions look good though. Keep at it and update this thread with new pieces.

I don't have to much experience.
I do straps in my spare time, for several months.
I was learning everything alone, from the beginning.
The first straps were terrible, now it is much better.
But I'm still striving for perfection.

    Straps

    They look great.

The imperfections add to the hand made feel ;).

Keep up the great work and if you one for sale let me know .

    Cheers .

I was thinking about this today... you should write up a 'how to' thread. I have no desire to make watch straps but would very much enjoy reading it... things like leather selection, needle, thread selection etc etc. I always like seeing how things are made.

I think those are great, especially the brown one in the first picture .Well done it would be great to see how you did those .

I did a saddlery course...mothe stitches aren't crooked ...well a couple are, thy follow the marks made by the pricking iron, if you look at a headcollar or a bridle you'll see the same....

    Nice work btw

    Not yet.
I don't have any exotic skins.
But in the future(near future I hope) I'd like to do these straps.

I feel the opposite, those are the little details that scream hand made.
I'm a fan. Maybe I'll see about commissioning a strap for my Cali dial. :)

    They look good to me.

I've been looking for a custom strap for my Oris TT1 - is that something that you'd consider?

    I like them.

It's great to have a hobby that's creative and you've produced some excellent straps.

Have you thought about making a NATO?

I'm not a big fan of nato straps therefore I haven't done them before.
but in the future I will certainly wanting to try.

    Pav,

Great strap for my U-Boat... Finding someone to make a 23mm tapering to 22mm vintage leather strap is not easy, I can assure you.

IMHO quality is first rate super soft for such a thick strap. Looks perfect on my U-Boat (no comments please, I happen to like the watch )

    Here's some quick phone pics:

I really like the punched holes in the keeper on this one, not seen that effect before and think it works really well.
