Here's Milka. He passed away earlier this year and I've struggled even to look at dogs since then. He was a wonderful cocker/golden retriever cross. My first dog.

I'm sure Milka would want another doggie to have such a caring master, I use the word master lightly :)

    Here's my little girl.

She passed away nearly two years ago just before Christmas. She is buried in my garden under an apple tree.

I still haven't managed to buy another BT as I know none would come close and I would always be comparing.

    Perhaps in the future.

    RIP Deana.

    Cheers,
    Neil.

    Good looking girl
I know the feeling my BT Bully died 5 yrs ago and still can't get my head round getting another
    He was my best mate
Welling up thinking about it now
And I'm not a softy namby pamby type

Never met a man yet I wouldn't fight
But I bloody cried for months
Felt worse when he went than my parents
I'd never get another breed , maybe one day
    But the memory's are great

Some very sad but uplifting stories from Sean and Brian.

It just shows the healing power our four legged friends have.

All the best to all you dog owners.
    Cheers,
    Neil.

Some great dog pics on here, and I feel for the people who've lost a furry friend. My last dog was a rescue off the streets, and I lost her at the age of 17. I still have her ashes, and if I think of her now, it breaks my heart.

I said I'd never have another, but I have two rescues. An American bulldog cross called Yogi, and a Staffy cross called Smudge.

They support Cardiff City, please don't hold it against them. They're against the re-brand of the club, and refuse to wear red though! ;)

Here is another from last night (after he had chewed the corner of my beloved coffee table - not happy!)

We picked up little Reuben around 7 weeks ago and he is doing great (16 weeks at the moment). He is a Vizsla/Cocker spaniel cross and is looking like butter wouldn't melt (we all know that cute puppy look is impossible to ignore)

Was the Vizsla/cocker cross planned or an 'accident'?

    (he looks ace btw!).

Is there a "breed name" for a vizsla / cocker - I can`t think what it may be

We have all heard of Labradoodles; less popular ones that come to mind are a "Bug" (Beagle / Pug) and "Cavapoo" (Cavalier / Poodle) and there is the "Bullshit" ...

This breed deserves a good name

What a lovely looking puppy Amber is.

This is Austin. I've had him for 5 years now after getting him from a local rescue home. He's a German Shepherd Staffie cross. In theory he should be tough, but he's a softie and a bit of a sissy. I'd have loved to have seen him as a puppy.

There hasn't been a single picture on this thread that hasn't made me wish I had a dog back in my life. Somehow a cat just doesn't quite cut it......

    This is Cass..

Lost her in February unfortunately, aged 13. Not a pedigree or anything special, just a mongrel with a bit of everything.

Couldn't have asked for a better friend though, she had a great temperament and lived a full life. I still miss her :-/

I feel the pain of anyone who has lost a dog. My last was called froggie and the wife had the unenviable task of taking him to the vet for the last time whilst i was away in afghanistan. I was ruined and found a corner of the FOB i was in for the opportunity to bawl my eyes out once i found out. He was 19 and had slowed down really quickly in his last few days, almost like someone had flicked a switch.

    this is him

prior to him was max who the wife had to take to the vet whilst i was away in Kenya, he was probably about 15 and had spent most of his life in a dogs home before we got him, ace dog but awful around all other dogs, i miss him but my wife still cries when his name is mentioned even after 5 years.

this is him on the right

currently we have poppy, a tiny little rottweiler who i love so much i cant even tell you! i just want to pick her up and squeeze her everytime i see her, she is hilarious too.

and surely this picture will cheer everyone up

Like Neil I've buried her under an archway in our garden, close to the Cherry tree I planted for my Mum when she went 3 years ago. I still have my other little dog and hopefully there's many years in him, yet. He's unusually quiet at the moment and I think he senses his mate's not coming back. Tough day. Will have a couple of beers later, I think. The wife and my little son just arrived home and am doing my best to blink back the tears but it's proving hard. Need to find something to occupy the rest if the day, me thinks.
All I can say, and I think everyone will agree, I feel privileged to read your post. Any dog owner will share your feelings at this time.

    Thank you.

Just saw this, so sorry to hear your awful news mate.

Hopefully your other dog will fill the void a little.

    All the best.
